5.0 out of 5 stars Nice product, very durable
I was very impressed with the product. It is made of strong canvas, reinforced straps. It is very roomy with alot of big pockets and is very comfortable as a day pack. I broke it in the next day hiking and it had enough room to pack in all my supplies as well as the trash I packed out from the trail. I do suggest getting a waterproof liner to extend the life of the life...

I just received this item and i have been amazed at the quality since. You will not find another pack like this at such a reasoable cost. I plan to get another soon just to have a spare. It's the perfect size for hiking and has plenty of pockets for storage. Its comfortable to wear and has large secure straps, you can't go wrong.

I brought this for a, "Wilderness Survival", Merit Badge class for a local council of the Boy Scouts of America. I have used it on the overnight trip that is required to complete the merit badge and have found it to be just right. Small enough to fit in the trunk of a car or carry in another vechile and yet will carry what you need for a, "tricky", situation. It expands and will fold up as needed. Just the rucksack I need.

This is a tough pack. Lots of room in main compartment. Three side pockets have good space for smaller items. I take it hunting and camping. It is a quality pack for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, a decent purcase, October 30, 2010

I received this rucksack last week and have had time to do a visual review of the product. I inspected all the exterior and interior seams, and it appeared well-built. It has a seam liner on the inside to prevent it from fraying. So, I'll just iterate what I saw that I didn't like, and what I've done about it.

No sternum strap. No water reservoir pouch. No MOLLE straps. Sorta thin shoulder straps. No internal frame of any sort -- think of it as a basic Jansport backpack -- spineless.

I have given this rucksack to a industrial seamstress to add a sternum strap, which, after wearing this rucksack, it pretty much needs for me (over 6ft tall). I am also having a flexible plastic backing put in to give some rigidity to the (non-existent) frame, and adding a pouch for a 2 liter Platypus reservoir. Not too worried about the thin shoulder straps, but I am having some MOLLE straps added as well. This will double the overall cost of this product, however, for the original price of this rucksack, I am fine with that.

Essentially, you get what you pay for. It is cheap because it lacks a lot of functionality, however, it is well-built and, in my case, customizable to my needs. So, if you are looking for a sturdy backpack with roughly 2000 sq. inches of room, this will suffice for under $30, but it is a bare-bones model.

2.0 out of 5 stars to small, September 16, 2011

I'm a large guy imagine an offensive lineman... that's me. This bag is tiny for a larger guy. The straps fully extended and put over my shoulders made the bag look like it was for a child. The "Waste strap" is pointless for a tall person (i'm 6' 3") because it connects above the belly button which will give 0 support I will end up cutting them off since they are also not long enough for a larger man. I can't blame the bag for my size but I can blame them for not listing length of the straps so that I could size it up before purchasing. In a man sizing chart I would say that the bag would be good for someone who wears a size XL shirt or smaller. If you wear anything over XL in a shirt then stay away from this bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars spacious pack!!, March 24, 2011

This pack is plenty big for your normal hike. There is a spacious main pouch, with a drawstring closure at the top, three side pouches large enough for 3 maybe 4 MREs in each, (the center pouch is zippered, the outter two have quick-release snaps)plus a zippered pouch on the flap large enough to hold 1 MRE. The straps have extra padding on them so they are around 1" thick. There is even a waiste belt to help keep it from bouncing around. The material is a rugged water proof canvas. I will prolly use this as my college/work bag as its plenty big enough for all my books, my laptop, plus spare clothes for work. It's a great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bag., January 18, 2011

Great bag, use it all the time for various activities. Very spacious design, can fit a good bit of stuff in it. Very sturdy material, have not tried it through thick bush, so can't tell you how it holds up, but looks like it will. External pockets are great. Love the drawstring design, lets you really stuff it full.

Quality made. Didn't see any poor stitching or defects. Comfortable to wear around if you load it correctly. Not really big enough for a 2+ day hike, but if you're on a day or day +1 night trip, should be adequate. Keep in mind, not water proof in the slightest.

My only complaint is the buckles and what not are made of plastic, not metal. They're definitely not cheap feeling, but I would have preferred metal. That's really my only complaint, but I'm not hung up on it at all.
