I'm starting to paint outdoors and needed a stool backpack combination like this to carry my art supplies and use as seat. I'm 6'2" and weigh 240 lbs. The stool part of this combination is fine for me. Seat is a little small as it is just a canvas seat between the two metal uprights with a little ( very little) padding. Seats a little narrow but surprisingly I can set on for a good length of time and not get sore. The metal tubing that makes up the seat supports are of a heavy gauge steel and very sturdy.

The bag part is OK but not great. Material is some kind of waterproof looking heavy synthetic canvas materials with an inside rubber coating. Probably not water tight but definitely will keep supplies dry from rain. Zippers look pretty good and pack has two side pockets and one front pocket. All this is visible in the pictures but what you don't see is that the whole thing is small, like a kids school backpack. Not surprising because it has to fit under the stool but picture does not show well.

Only criticism I have is that the two side pockets have a mesh extra pocket on outside that is of poor quality. Mesh material is stiff and cheap. A lot like the materials that the bags that hold oranges in that you buy at the grocery store are made of. Not very useful. But for the price I really didn't expect to have a super quality pack.

As a pack the seat frame makes it a little clumsy, but acceptable. I wouldn't treat it as a real pack and didn't expect it to be when I bought it.

The vendor shipped in nice box and came within three days of my ordering. Very good job of shipping.

For the price and shipping , it's a great deal.

Mine has square zippered tops to compartments, not straps. Smaller than the usual backpack size, and it could use some straps or D rings to attach stuff on the outside. Pack is removable from the stool, but the stool is functional with the filled backpack attached. Seat is tiny, but comfortable enough in a pinch. Might want to just use a regular pack and strap a folding stool to it, for the same amount of weight.

Really a nice thing. My father uses it for painting on location. He carries this with all of his painting equipment and then sits on the stool to paint.

It's great! Not exactly the HIGHEST quality. But, it's certainly decently constructed and looks pretty good. Plus, for the price I think it's more than what you should be expecting.

No rips, zipper problems, tears, or defects in the stool. I am really happy with the purchase and it would be great for lightweight hiking or even a great little day at the park for those that don't feel comfortable physically by sitting on the floor.

*christine's husband reviewing*

At 6'2" and 190lbs I fit comfortably on this and it does not feel overly wobbly. It will be nice to be able to carry camera equipment and have a seat to sit on when I wish.

Worth the money and would buy another should this one wear out.

Having looked at this product online, it seemed like the perfect answer for an upcoming trip... After receiving it, it appears as though it will work, but is somewhat smaller than I expected, and perhaps a little bit tippy. I had previously purchased a similar item from a local store, and the seat was spacious and seemed comfortable to sit on. I wanted to get a second one for my husband, but was unable to find another locally, so ordered this one online. Since my husband is quite a bit larger than me, I guess he will be using the one I had before, and I will have to use this one. It will serve the purpose, but not as well as I had hoped for.

I got this backpack chair to replace the old one I had bought used. This replacement is just as good as the old one that was falling apart after years of use, but when it came, it was configured incorrectly. The chair wasn't opening without pulling the backpack through the supports. Thankfully I had my old backpack chair to compare this one to; after a little reconfiguring of how the backpack attaches to the supports, all was perfect. Love this backpack chair! Very useful for day hikes.

Used on our annual canoe trip into the Boundary waters and it lasted only for half the trip. The zipper ripped out of it on one of our portages. I was going to use it as a back pack to carry my plates, stove, silverware and a chair to sit on while cooking. Good idea but not well made.
