This thing is a piece of junk. I'm not sure what 'professional' would be using it, because it can vary as much as 20 degrees east or west of north. I bought it because it had good reviews, but clearly those reviewers must have had a different compass entirely. Don't waste your money!

Small compass clips easily to a purse or pack and is easy to read. Takes awhile to settle down, and doesn't work well in vehicles, but that seems to be the nature of small compasses.

I really don't have very demanding needs in a compass. I need one for helping to navigate unfamiliar city streets, which means I just need to know--generally--which way north is. So despite the poor reviews for this one, I ordered it anyway. The form factor was right--really quite perfect for my needs, and I figured, how bad could it be?

It's bad. The clip part of the carabiner was bent when it arrived, and the compass surface was a bit scratched up--but I could live with those things. I'm not putting my compass in a fashion show. I cannot live with the fact that the direction it says is north is not north, except by coincidence. Sitting here in my living room, tapping it to make sure it isn't stuck (it's not), holding it as level as possible, tipping slightly at different angles to REALLY make sure it's not stuck, making sure there are no magnets or anything around it.... no dice.

I have another compass (one that's not very convenient for my upcoming trip) and it takes a moment to settle, but clearly indicates the direction I know to be north. I sat the two compasses on the same table and my old one worked, this so-called "professional" one did not, so I know it's not an environmental factor confusing it. It just plain doesn't work.

Compass was well worth the effort to buy. I bought 4 of them and use them to attach to the front end of our backpacks which will allow us to see the compass as we hike. The compass seems to be built well and all 4 that i bought point relitivley to the correct North. which is a good thing.

Loved them. They are made well and you get more then you pay for!! High quality! Would definately purchase again.

The item delivered was nothing like the description. It had a thermometer and compass, neither worked. It's going back.

I agree with other reviews that say that this thing is a piece of junk! If you shake it like crazy, it eventually settles out in the right direction. I pray I never have to use this in an actual survival situation.

It's a pretty neat compass. Somewhat sturdy and accurate.
I attach it to the side of my bag, away from any metal and magnetic items. Makes it easier for me to check it without actually carrying it in my pocket or hand.

This is a simple and easy to use compass for hiking. If you miss to hike using a map, you may want to consider another compass. But for simple navigation, this will get use from point A to B.

I bought this to add to my backpack gadgets and it is better that I had expected. The compass works great and the latch mechanism is solid quality. They shipped this quickly as well. Will buy again. Thx.
