I love the concept of this product. Carrying 32 oz of water with a shoulder strap is much more comfortable than on a belt. I picked up a Nalgene oasis canteen to go with my canteen cup/stove, ditching the old plastic military canteen in the process and I wanted this shoulder carry option to complete the kit. I would have preferred nylon materials, since cotton gets wet and stays wet. All things considered, I was willing to accept that shortfall for the functionality that attracted me to it in the first place. To my dismay, one side of the shoulder strap was not sewn on properly, so there is a "turn" in the strap that is actually more annoying to look at than impacts it's actual use. I am usually pretty satisfied with Rothco products, but that product blemish was very disapointing. It's not worth returning it or exchanging it and it is going into my "get home bag" that I keep in the car for emergencies, so it won't see regular use. I'm sure others that purchase it, won't get the same sewing error and will be much more satisfied with this piece of gear.

Fits both my Nalgene 32oz. canteen and cup with no problems whatsoever. Pocket on front is really useful as well - I keep water purification tabs in there, along with a backup firesteel and tinder, just in case. Strap extends a good deal as well, so it is comfortable to carry too. For under $10, this was a great value.

I loved my Canteen Cover. The strap was comfortable and I'm so happy it had a pocket. I call this my survival because with this case it held my pocket knife, my fire starter, some camp soap (which is like soap shavings) and I had my compass cliped onto the strap and it was even enough room on the inside to hold my canteen and my HTC Cell phone with still being able to snap it closed.. haha it held everything I need but food oh and I bet I could have even fit some bandaids in there too.

I bought this canteen cover solely because it has a sling attached. I needed something to hold my canteen at chest height. The "Gas Mask Canteen - Fits Israeli M15 and Civilian" product only has a 12 inch drinking tube.

I've tested this canteen cover out and it does the job beautifully. When the sling is adjusted to the shortest length, the canteen cover can be hung around the neck like a camera. In this position, the canteen rests on my sternum. When the sling is at the longest length, the canteen cover can be worn cross-chest and rests comfortably on my hip.

It is well constructed with secure snaps, sling, and buckle. If you are worries about water absorption, spray it down with scotch guard.

I used this to hold my Nalagene Canteen w/Cup, fitted perfectly. I like the idea of the strap to carry it versus attaching to your belt. The front compartment was nice and it could fit your keys or even your iPhone (I had a 4S with a case and it fit).

What to watch out for...If the buttons get wet, they will start to rust right way, so make sure you keep it dry when possible. I spilled some water when filling my canteen and I noticed some rust spots 3 days later, I just wiped it and it is 95% back to normal.

The shoulder strap adds greatly to functionality, since you can carry with a long coat on and/or the Grand Kids can carry their own water.

The large front pocket is fantastic, I can fit a cell phone, Tool Logic Survival II, water pills, and some cotton balls for tinder.

Basically it's a mini survival/hiking kit.

Although the material seems suspect, and mine had a small hole in the flap, so quality control is also suspect

Thought this was a great buy for the money. My nalgene canteen along with a canteen cup fits nicely in carry-all.The pocket on the front is nice to carry a fire starter, tender, or whatever.I carry a canteen cup lid I made out of stainless in mine. Also like the shoulder strap.

This item does its job and holds a milspec canteen taut to your side, it also has sufficient space for the nested canteen cup if you'd like to go out and survive in the wild like Bear Grylls. I typically leave the steel canteen cup at home and just take a larger mess kit if I'm going camping/scouting, but having the space for it is nice nonetheless. The carry-all has a 3'' by 5'' pocket stitched onto the front, which is secured by a velcro flap and has sufficient depth to hold a single Clif Bar, or a plus-sized Leatherman multi-tool like the ST300 and a mid-sized tactical folder side by side (I was using a SOG FLASH II), or a Victorinox Swisschamp XLT and a few matches or a firesteel. But I just throw the single peanut butter Clif Bar in there most of the time, makes sense to me to have a snack next to a sip.

Unfortunately, since this item is made by Rothco and is marked with the dreaded vintage tag it's built out of 100% cotton fabric. Meaning, if you accidentally get it wet filling your canteen up without taking it out of the Carry-all (as many will) it will stay damp for a good while before drying out. The cotton isn't the most fitting choice for an item designed to hold a water container, but it looks good and the stitching is well-done.

NOTE: I feel I should add a disclaimer since Military Chic is a big thing in female fashion nowadays, this canteen cover and the canteen it fits are pretty bulky- and a normal small-framed woman would probably look strange sporting it. It isn't modified to look slender the way most converted military styles are, it's brutally functional and IS NOT stylish looking at all. Do not expect to look good walking around with this thing on a Manhattan street. If you're looking for more style I'd look at the US canteen brand.
