5.0 out of 5 stars A good choice.
I was a little unsure when looking over this product, since the pictures aren't that great and there had been no previous comments, but I have to say that I'm happy with my purchase. The blade's length may be a bit "excessive", especially for someone who doesn't hold knives often, but I myself am comfortable with it. The items along with the knife are very good. On my...

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Waste Your Money on this Knife
Special Forces Survival Kit Knife This knife is cheesy and not worth the money or s & h cost. The plastic handle will never hold up to any heavy use, the blade is dull. The name of the knife is completely misleading - this is not a true special forces survival knife. Save your hard earned money and purchase something else.

The blade's length may be a bit "excessive", especially for someone who doesn't hold knives often, but I myself am comfortable with it. The items along with the knife are very good. On my 'first run' with the knife I actually caught a bluegill with the line, hook, and a squished ant. I was impressed. My favorite feature are the pockets on the sheath. They are roomy, but not too large. I adjusted a few things and was able to fit a magnesium fire-starter into the bottom pocket, which made me happy. It's a big knife, but it is very nice for the avid hiker/camper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, February 25, 2008
The handle is solid plastic and slips in a sweaty hand, so you should tie a boot strap around it. Other than that, it's pretty good. Blade is heavy enough, full tang, compass points north, fish hooks and line acceptable

2.0 out of 5 stars It fell apart the second day I got it., April 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rothco Special Force Survival Knife (Misc.)
I bought this after reading all the reviews on most of the cheap knifes on amazon and went with this one. It fell apart the second day i got it. The only thing holding it together was glue and a screw, but even the screw was held on by glue. the little bags came apart in the first two hours I got it. I got it to be my outdoor knife, and I was very disappointed.

pros:
Its cheap.
Its not made in China.
Its made of strong metal.
It has a nice plastic case.
cons:
cheaply made.
will not last at any abuse.
does not stay together.

4.0 out of 5 stars hmmm..., December 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rothco Special Force Survival Knife (Misc.)
not sure how to start I have used more knives than I care to count and this appears to be a good item.
it is ugly a bit much size wise for a survival tool but is quite complete to serve it's purpose.
feels full tang "euro style not asian"
blade is sharp enough, compass works did not test other tools look ok.
for 23 bucks I would put one in my truck my 4wheeler and my boat. "but then I live in Alaska 10mls from thick wild forests"
for the designers I say if is full tang good show put a better handle on it and I'll get more.
for newbs, tenderfeet and others who are less than blade experts if you have one take a file and put about ten vertical grooves in the handle to augment the already present grip that does not work well.
or you can spend a couple of buck and get grip tape it will work but not really worth it on a budget knife.
it is not safe to handle as is and I'd hate to lose a toe on account of being lazy. :>

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Rothco Special Force Survival Knife (Misc.)
This knife was a gift for my nephew at Christmas. He is a deer hunter and overall sportsman. It turned out to be the perfect thing for him. (Of course, he is always well supervised.)
