If I am at fault I'll admit it. The instructions call for cutting metal NO THICKER than 1/8 inch. I was in a hurry to try out my new tool and missed reading that part. Tried cutting metal thicker than that and the attachment that turns the cutoff wheel stripped some gears. The main unit was still in great shape. I tried it out on some wood and it worked just great.

I may have also put a little too much pressure on the tool. Again the instructions caution against that. I am an old guy and I don't consider myself as having enough strength to burn out a tool. I did it and I don't consider it the tools fault.

I did get a nice surprise. I contacted Amazon and explained my problem by e-mail. I did not get a return e-mail but today I received a replacement and it was less than 48 hours that I had sent that e-mail. What is even more amazing is that I STILL HAVE THE OLD UNIT. It will be returned as soon as I get an address to return it to. I'm happy they trusted me enough to send me a new unit before i shipped the old one back. Their return e-mail must be stuck in my capricious spam filter.

In my opinion this will be a great LIGHT DUTY tool. Amazon also dropped the price by $70 since I bought it and that makes it an even better deal for any future buyers. If you want a heavier duty tool they do sell one with a higher amperage motor that may cost a bit more.

There are many attachments and blades you can purchse extra for this unit BUT this kit has some very handy attachments already in it. I recommend that you buy this kit first, take a look at what's there, and then decide what extras you'd like to have. Since this kit already has the dust adapter I did go ahead and ordered the vacuum hose that goes between it and the vacuum cleaner.

I also like the fact that the handle can be removed and it has a compartment in it for storing small bits and tools. I have also noticed that the handle has certain slots in it as if there are attachments that fit it also, I'm going to check that out futher.

In conclusion I feel that with the new lower price it makes this kit a deal that is hard to pass up. If I had placed my order a few days later I could have gotten the same deal but heck that is just how life is sometimes. I have gotten great deals in the past on Amazon by waiting and I shall continue to do so in the future.

Good product at a competitive price. Specifically purchased to cut out electrical box holes in plaster/lathe walls utilizing a bit intended for tile. In that application, work like a charm, although the tile bit had more trouble with the lathe than the plaster. This tool is a lot handier than I would have quessed. Will find more jobs for it. Tool bag roomy and sturdy.

I bought this for the current construction that we are doing on a master bedroom suite. The kit came with a attachment that allows you to hook up a shop vac making this a virtually dust free cut. You do have to provide the 1 to 2 inch connection to hook the RotoZip up to the 2 inch shop vac. I bought a smaller hose for shop vacs at Home Depot and connected it in. Makes cutting above your head way easier to do without having to see through the dust. We have used it for sheet rock and cement board so far. In both cases the tool works great at cutting while not spraying dust into the room. You will have to wipe out the attachment occasionally to be able to see through the plastic to what you are cutting.
