Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son who is a professional bass guitar player. He had this on his "wish list" through Amazon.com and stated that this is the only brand he uses. He claims you can definitely hear the difference and they last much longer both by heavy use and being exposed to the elements (their band plays lots of outdoor gigs as well). After being told the above, it seems rediculous to waste the $$ and buy anything else. Also, I would definitely purchase through this seller again. Delivery was very fast and they were packaged very well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chirs Squire in a box, August 8, 2011

ATTENTION: these strings are amazing!! they have a great trebly, piano/harpsichord-like tone that is sure to cut through in any mix or in any band. if you are going for the chris squire sound and can't afford a Ric 4001, these puppies (and a pick) will get you as close as you can to his legendary tone. they're also great for slapping and almost any other style of music if you adjust your tone pots and amp properly. I'm using them on my fender jazz and they work great. you can't go wrong- try these strings!

Words from THE WHO SELL OUT album, that segue into I Can See For Miles, "Won't you groove together with RotoSound Strings.............." They were John Entwistle's favorite and I have used them for decades. THey are the best for hard rock and roll.

I've been using those strings for 30 years and on the rare occasions I couldn't get my hands on them, the substitutes didn't quite give me the sound I like.

These strings sound very very nice, I really love them. Bright, crisp, clean and a nice low-end. I bought them to go onto my Squier VM Fretless Jazz Bass and they do "sing" very nicely. Highly recommended, I'll probably be getting another set soon!

I have played with Rotosound strings for 30 years. I am surprised that Jaco is no longer mentioned on the package.
