Rotozip Rebel with Zipmate,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rotozip ZMREBELAZ Rebel Spiral Saw and Zip Mate Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased the Rotozip Rebel because of some work I needed to do in the bathroom which included carefully cutting ceramic tiles. I was impressed with the job the Rotozip Rebel did. The tool had plenty of power and also came with the needed accesories to do the job (although if you want to cut floor tiles you will have to spend another [money] to get a diamond blade). I liked the way you can adjust the grinding head to comfortably do the job. I also used the Rotozip to cut 1" off the base of a cabinet with laminate I had just built. As you may know to cut a cabinet of this type with a saw would cause the laminate to chip, however I was able to easily set a guide and make a perfectly clean cut with no chips with the Rotozip. With the additional attachments I'm sure I will use it again and again.Drawbacks: The tool feels somewhat cheap in your hands. Also, the swith is not the easiest to use. One needs to be careful when turning it "on" and "off" otherwise you could damage your project or yourself. Also, the bits and wheels seem to be replaced often. Would I buy it again? Yes.

Handy but fragile,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rotozip ZMREBELAZ Rebel Spiral Saw and Zip Mate Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw is able to do a lot of things that other saws cannot. It actually works in lathe and plaster for cutting outlet holes without destroying the surrounding plaster. You have to move slowly and carefully however. It is also great for shaping holes that are just off center and those types of fix up items. The negative. This saw is absolutely not heavy duty. In three months rotozip has replaced 2 saws as the shaft locking mechanism breaks if you look at it. After it is out of warranty one can just use an allen wrench to lock the shaft. I doubt that the entire saw will last much past the warranty period. I would probably go for the heavier revolution although I am not sure it is much better. I'd buy it again but my expectations are that one needs to consider this an item that you will replace after a year or two, if you use it once a month or so. If you use it more often I would look for a much heavier saw.

Not A Quality Tool,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rotozip ZMREBELAZ Rebel Spiral Saw and Zip Mate Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this tool about 18 months ago. I never used it during the warranty period. My son used it once to drill a hole in the bottom of a ceramic pot. My son-in-law used it once to cut out kitchen laminate counter top for a cooktop. First time I used the tool was the cut out a piece of dry wall and the tool started falling apart. The shaft lock button was difficult to engage and when I started the tool the buttton flew out on the floor. Now it busted and the shaft cannot be locked to change cutting bits. Altogether, the tool has been used for less than thirty minutes and it started flying apart. I am amazed at how flimsy the tool is made. I would not every buy another one.
