5.0 out of 5 stars A gorgeous album that defies genres, December 17, 2005
This review is from: Rough Cuts (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful, sophisticated, slow-jazzy/downtempo/chill album that shines amongst the many releases of 2005. Parov Stelar is a talented composer and maker of electronic dance grooves in Austria who slowed down the pace for his first full-length release and turned out this gem.

Featuring gorgeous vocals, piano, deep, slow beats, and meticulously crafted melodies, I rate this album along with the ranks of Tosca's "Suzuki" and "Opera," and Kruder and Dorfmeister's "K & D Sessions." It really is THAT good. And I have thousands of CDs from all over the world, so for me to rank something this highly, I'm not kidding around.

Sadly, as I write this, you can't preview any of the tracks on this Amazon page. I highly recommend that you visit one of the "well-known mp3 sellers" to give this album a listen. You'll see what I mean. The tracks (there are 10 of them) are: "Sometimes" (featuring Anita Riegler), "Tell Me," "For All We Know" [great track!], "Odessa," "Psychedelic Jazz," "Kisskiss," "Red Haired Woman," "Afternoon Breaks," "I Hold You," and "The Fusion."

Once you hear this album, you'll want more of Parov Stelar. There's good news: in late 2005, he's released a second CD that's just as good as this one (if not even BETTER), called "Seven and Storm." This album, too, is better than almost anything else that came out in 2005. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-notch European electronic jazz, October 15, 2007

Parov Stelar is one of Europe's hottest stars, unfortunately not well known in this country. The Soul Seduction internet site is the place to find all of his CD and EP's. His style is both modern and retro, with electronica, saxaphone, and an excellent female vocalist performing on several selections. The sophisticated style makes me think of groups such as The Dining Rooms and Tosca. This is one of my all-time favorite CD's.

4.0 out of 5 stars Un gran descubrimiento, October 29, 2005
This review is from: Rough Cuts (Audio CD)
