This review is from: Rough Frame (Audio CD)
For those that like the lo fi sound reminiscent of early Guided by Voices and 60's psych rock and folk. The harmonies remind me of Simon and Simon and Garfunkel, but that's not necessarily the major appeal of this album. The well crafted bass lines and melodies are submerged under a hallowed, mute sounding production. This reminds me of the band Eat Skull, who intentially recorded their album on a much used cassette tape in a basement with thrashed equipment to attain this effect. The Art Museums success cannot be measured simply by the post-production that seems evident throughout the recording, but rather by the catchiness of the choruses and melodies that shine through that. An interesting twist here is that they intertwine drum machines and synthesizers, giving the album a new wave feel at times.
