5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, Very Accurate, Very thorough
I used this recently during 2 weeks in Istanbul...
Very good maps, great suggestions, exhaustive info.
Much better than the popular alternate books I had along.
A travel guide can make or break a trip.
You can trust this one to guide you in all the
right directions and to all the right places.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a particularly well-written book
The book does cover Istanbul pretty well - however, there were several things that bothered me immensely in this book.

First, the maps - There's not nearly enough of them, and they're organized in a haphazard fashion. For this book, the maps covering the Asian side of Istanbul had a coverage gap, so if you were looking for the Florence Nightingale Museum, it...

The book does cover Istanbul pretty well - however, there were several things that bothered me immensely in this book.

First, the maps - There's not nearly enough of them, and they're organized in a haphazard fashion. For this book, the maps covering the Asian side of Istanbul had a coverage gap, so if you were looking for the Florence Nightingale Museum, it wasn't on any of the maps. I ended up using my Top 10 Istanbul (Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides) in lieu of the maps in this book.

Also, I found a handful of errors, namely prices of admission to various places and a few logistical issues.

Overall, I'm glad that I had my Top 10 Istanbul book to use instead of just relying on this book. Even having been to Istanbul before, I still felt lost when reading this book and using it as a guide. That's not a good sign.

The guidebook was very handy. We spent a three day weekend in Istanbul and found what we were looking for. There is a little bit of history which is nice. I would recommend this for a short stay in Istanbul.
