Great book, June 7, 2009
This review is from: The Rough Guide to Nirvana 1 (Rough Guide Sports/Pop Culture) (Paperback)
This book, with all honesty, is one of the best Nirvana books I have ever read. The author of this book does an excellent job capturing all the important moments (and some of the lesser known moments) throughout Nirvana's history. The book even talks about what happened to Krist and Dave after Kurt's death. Which I thought was pretty cool. Unlike Charles Cross' book Heavier Than Heaven, this book is very accurate and it does not have any errors. I recommend this book to all Nirvana fans; from the die-hard fans to the fresh new fans, The Rough Guide to Nirvana is a must have. Thank you Gillian G. Gaar for writing this book.

A Very Brief Overview of Nirvana, August 14, 2009
This review is from: The Rough Guide to Nirvana 1 (Rough Guide Sports/Pop Culture) (Paperback)
I will start this off by saying that if you are new to the world of Nirvana, this is an excellent starting point. If you are a seasoned vet, this will be a huge letdown. This book is well written and informative, but like the title says, it's a "rough guide" thus only skimming over the career of Nirvana and post Nirvana activities. If you want a detailed biography of the band, this is certainly not the book. If you are looking for a more hearty read, I would highly recommend Everett True's "Nirvana: The Biography" or Michael Azerrad's "Come as You Are" (both are cited in this book).
There were a few facts in here that I hadn't read about before that I found interesting, and the discography and release information at the end of the book is a handy guide to have at your fingertips. There are also excellent sources listed for you to further your Nirvana research.
Though a quick read, it's not my favorite Nirvana book by a longshot. Sorry Gillian!

Great Nirvana Book!, December 9, 2010
This review is from: The Rough Guide to Nirvana 1 (Rough Guide Sports/Pop Culture) (Paperback)
Gillian gives the Nirvana fan a great review of the band from Kurt's youth and beyond Nirvana and into lives of Novoselic and Grohl in their current post Nirvana days. Wether you are a die hard fan who knows all the details or a fan just discovering Nirvana.....it is an enjoyable book. You feel the journey Nirvana made without having any kind of bias like certain other books do. Very very well written! I highly recommend this book!

Great book on NIRVANA!!, August 14, 2009
This review is from: The Rough Guide to Nirvana 1 (Rough Guide Sports/Pop Culture) (Paperback)
I love this book! It is a very thorough, detailed guide to NIRVANA,and includes some things I had never read on the band and Kurt Cobain (and I have read it all). A definite must have for any NIRVANA fan's collection! I also like that the author includes sections on Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic's years after NIRVANA, and the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee. Great job!
