Wow! This book is so thoughful and well-balanced. The author gives both sides of the debate. From helping your community by buying locally made goods to helping the poorest of the poor in a far off corner of the globe by allowing them to enter the Western market. What kind of diet is most ethical, environmental, economical? Factory-farmed meats, organic meats, no meats? All of the pros and cons are presented, and, most importantly, we get to decide for ourselves.
After reading this book I want to go out and buy local, organic, union-made, vegan stuff and change all my investments to socially responsible funds. I really appreciate this book.

I was very disappointed in this book. The author seemed to write all about his opinion and not use facts or real life instances.

This book is great. Did you know that Marlboro (the cigarette people) own Boca (the veggie burger people)? Of course, as you read it you start to realize that the world is full of evil companies, and it's nearly impossible to do/buy everything right. So, American Apparel doesn't use sweatshops, but their CEO has been sued over and over for sexual harassment and has been accused of exploiting women....Basically you have to weigh the pros and cons of each company you buy from, and this book gives you the tools to do it. I keep lending this book out to people and losing it. This is my third copy.
