A NICE COMPILATION OF WEST AFRICAN (MALI, SIERRA LEONE, SENEGAL, NIGERIA, GUINEA, AND GHANA) "POPULAR" MUSIC RECORDED BETWEEN THE 50'S-80'S. A STYLE OF MUSIC KNOWN AS "HIGHLIFE", WHICH IS ANOTHER TERM FOR POP MUSIC. A LOT OF WESTERN INFLUENCE HEARD HERE, FROM CALYPSO SOUNDS TO FUNK, SKA, BIG BAND, AND MEMPHIS SOUL.

if you like african music this is a must!it reflects american influence very stongly.you'll hear shades of memphis funk,louis armstrong and arabic influences.you even get THE LORDS PRAYER. what more could you want?
