Opportunities for Americans to gamble have increased all across the nation. As a result, millions of Americans whose gambling once was limited to the church bingo hall or a poker evening "with the boys" are now exposed to numerous games of chance. Amazingly, intelligent individuals who take tennis or golf lessons to improve their game, give no consideration to the possibility that some study might give them a better edge in their selected game of chance. This book addresses the concern that many individuals are now entering the numerous casinos available to them and gambling hard-earned money at games of which they have only a limited understanding. This book is not designed for the professional gambler. There are individuals who, through years of experience and with an excellent grasp of money management, can prevail against the odds which are stacked against them. Nor is it designed to give the reader some magic formula with a guarantee of winning. In fact, if you receive sales literature that offers you a "sure fire" wining strategy, keep in mind that the developer of the truly effective strategy would be making all the money they desired by using their system, not by selling it to others. It is not designed to encourage you to gamble; however, if you want to do some casual gambling it can help give you every edge you need in an attempt to be a winning player. And you need every edge!! In roulette on the double zero wheel, you are facing a built-in house advantage of 5.26%. Betting strategies and money management can reduce that house advantage. Because the numbers spun can develop a pattern over a limited number of spins, it opens up a window of opportunity for the casual gambler. Before discussing specific techniques to improve your odds, let's explore the playing field in general. Casinos are a business designed to produce a reasonable profit with a house edge in their favor. They, in turn, have a responsibility to provide an honest game of chance. Even if you enjoy a bit of success and Lady Luck is on your side, don't be tempted to bet significant money. Enjoy the game and enjoy the ambience of the casino. Played correctly, roulette, for the casual gambler, can be an exciting and fun-and sometimes profitable-activity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Roulette Book, April 24, 2003

This review is from: Roulette for the Casual Gambler (Paperback)
Unlike many books in the gambling genre Roulette For the CasualGambler gives solid, hands on kind of advice without the promise of large $$$$ returns.A pleasant surprise in the book were the pages about slots, sports betting, bingo and lotteries. Plus insights on how to approach the casino scene in general.More experienced roulette players will find as I did the roulette charts in the back of the book a great tool for researching roulette based on actual results. (It saved me a lot of time)
