5.0 out of 5 stars What An Injustice!!
I have just read the previous review and could not believe what I was reading. You are entitled to your opinion BUT ......... Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks produced probably the best Rock n Roll of 1958 and 1959. Great, Wild, Pure, and with Great Sound Quality. Of Course by 1960 he was searching for a new direction, along with most others of the day, because American...

2.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Rockabilly
Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks were probably one of the better bar bands of the early and mid-sixties. The music is "night club" sixties style "rockabilly" through and through. Ironically, this band evolved into "The Band" with Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and "Robbie" Roberson as the most prominent survivors. If you into this style...

I have just read the previous review and could not believe what I was reading. You are entitled to your opinion BUT ......... Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks produced probably the best Rock n Roll of 1958 and 1959. Great, Wild, Pure, and with Great Sound Quality. Of Course by 1960 he was searching for a new direction, along with most others of the day, because American Hard Rock n Roll was dead by then. The charts were full of "Bobby's" doing Government approved "POP SONG". It took the British Invasion to bring to life a lost American art form. Call it what you like 40 years later, (Rockabilly or anything else) but at the time it was just Plain, Hard, Wild, Rock n Roll, the type we (then) teenagers wanted. But it was not what the Authorities wanted. Ronnie Hawkins and his Hawks were as good and wild as it got.......... Do your self a favour and buy this CD. Sure there are a few tracks that you can live without, but what is good is brilliant. If you call yourself a "Rocker" and don't have this CD, then I don't know how you sleep at night. Thank You Sequal Records of London, England, for releasing this CD of Lost American Music.

Ironically, this band evolved into "The Band" with Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and "Robbie" Roberson as the most prominent survivors. If you into this style and era it brings back a lot of memories. However, the quality of the recording and music selections leave a lot to be desired.
