4.0 out of 5 stars Great Model but has problems
Love this model. But want to relate a few problems. The instructions, beware on page 2, parts 14 and 15 (runners)are backwards. Gluing the runners according to directions is disasterous. Same with page 4, parts 43 and 44 are also backwards. Another tip: add some weight to inside chamber of the Guillotine Casing (part 27) to make the blade drop well. It is too light. But...

But more important is to move the magnet in the head back about 1/8th inch, as it is too strong and head will not chop off. Also, my other complaint is the "Upright beams" should have wood texture to them. They are smooth and flat, as they saved money not texuring them. Bummer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Guillotine Model, November 22, 2010

This Polar Lights model is the same as the old Aurora guillotine model from the 1960's. Educational in that it does show the builder how an actual guillotine was built...I guess. The victim or criminal can be removed. His head can be removed as well. Blade actually can move up and down in the stocks.
I found this model interesting in that our neighbor's son had one years ago, and it seemed pretty creepy. Good model to build and paint.
