5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Round Like a Ball (Hardcover)
Round Like A Ball is one of the best children's books I have seen this year. Lisa Campbell Ernst engagingly weaves an ecological story about the earth with the fun of the progressively larger holes in each page and the riddles of what is round like a ball. An excellent and age appropriate story with a message of preserving our earth. Highly recommend this book!

This is an amazing book for a younger child. The story is simple, the colors in the book bright, and the illistrations draw your attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, September 22, 2008
This review is from: Round Like a Ball (Hardcover)
I own this book and absolutely love it. I am a preschool teacher, and this year we have increased the amount of effort to teach the children how to recycle, reuse and reduce in order to preserve our precious earth. This book was a great introduction to our year-long project of helping the earth. The children loved the book, they were incredibly captivated, and enjoyed guessing what the answer to the "riddle" could possibly be. As the circle grows bigger and bigger, come children caught on... they were so excited!

The artwork in this book is beautiful. The illustrations convincingly perceive the "riddle" as a bubble, and ice cream cone, a pearl, a gum ball, etc.

The only issue that I have with the book is with the incredibly informative fold-out located in the back of the book. Fold-outs cause books to be fragile, and therefore can't be left out for children to look at independently. Because I want to make this book last, I keep it out of the children's reach, a shame because they could get so much more from it if they could use it individually.
