This is a great model, but it has two flaws. One problem is that the decals are very delicate and break easily. One way to fix this problem is to use warm water when soaking them. The other problem is that the instructions say you might have to cut the decals: DO NOT DO THIS. This just creates more problems. This model is appropriate for people with experience using water slide decals. The body of the model was easy to put together, and looks great. To make the model look the most realistic, you should paint some of the details that are left out in the decals. One good tip is to wash the plastic parts with dishwashing liquid, rinse well and completely dry before painting. This removes the oily film that is there due to the manufacturing process. The model is completely white when you take it out of the box, and the only color is added by the decals and whatever you paint. This model turned out great and was worth the extra time and patience that it took to get the decals on just right. I would reccommend this model very highly and I will probably be making more of the series in the future.

do not take the other reviews to heart. any model builder will tell you no matter how "easy" the model is supposed to be, it still takes time, patience and a steady hand.I LOVE THIS MODEL! You get what you pay for. Its a simple snap together model that required, for me, no glue. if you dont like decals, then dont buy this model since the majority of your time will be spent on placing them. but i will tell you that the end product is pretty awesome and is hanging in my room right now. the decals give the ship its detail and luster and will be well worth it when you are done. yeah its not perfect and it takes time to place the Nacell decals just right, but like i said before, its WELL WORTH IT! i noticed that there were no GOOD pictures of the finished model or people just complaining about it with no pictures to back it so i uploaded mine to share. If you REALLY love Star Trek and dont have alot of money to dish out on a super duper one, and want one for its eye candy factor, then buy this model. oh and for those saying that the decals break easily, they do not. maybe they were handling them wrong or something but not ONE decal broke on me at all. They will, however, break if they are soaked too long, as any model builder should know.

These Round2 AMT Star Trek Enterprise models are something that a lot of fans have been waiting for for a very long time. For the first time, all ships named Enterprise are the same scale and can be displayed together to compare their size.I didn't realize before buying these ships that they come with extremely detailed decals that capture every detail of the ships'design. You don't have to be a lifetime modeler like me to get a professional-looking model with the super-detailed decals. If you'd like, a little bit of painting can be done to add details, but is not necessary. These are snap together kits which require no glueing. However, I prefer to glue mine together to keep the decals from parting at the joints. The level of detail in these models rival the larger kits with expensive, after market add-on decal sets. You get everything you need in a small package which is perfect for display and comparison purposes. Each model has a small hole at the bottom at the center of gravity to perfectly balance these models on simple metal rods. Mine are mounted to a piece of stained wood which gives them a professional look. With very little work, you can build an accurate set of starships to admire and be proud of.

Great model, I haven't built any since I was a kid twenty years ago. But I found this one fun. It took a bit of time getting used to the decals again. And it has lots of decals. I think it ended up looking good. I did paint it grey and I should have done light grey I think the accents would have shown up a bit better. It snapped together well even though I painted it before assembling. If I did it again I would assemble first then paint. But I must reiterate, it fit together well, the decals gave great detail and it was a blast to build.

My 10 year old son (nearly 11) enjoys building these models mainly so that he can play with the Star Trek ships he loves. He'll add a few decals once he's finished, such as the name of the ship or some decorative thing he liked, but he doesn't do the full paint and decal finishing.Sometimes there are pieces that don't fit well and it's necessary to cut pieces in order to make them work, but this is true of virtually ALL model kits. For the price, this is an excellent kit, and these Star Trek models always provide him with hours of fun as he stages space battles in his room. These models are easy enough for a 10 year old boy to put together without any issues as long as his dad (or some other model building experienced adult) has helped him do the first two or so. They look cool enough to play with as soon as they're finished. We can't speak to how they look fully painted and decorated because we have yet to have one of those in our house.

I've been making models for over 10 years, and my friend is a serious Trekkie, so I thought I'd buy a simple Star Trek model as a Christmas gift. Instead I got a model designed by a simpleton! He was unable to figure out the instructions, so I decided to help him. None of the parts fit together without serious trimming and the decals shred at the slightest touch! By the time I trimmed the misshapen connections down to where they fit, they no longer snapped together and required glue. I've done numerous 1:24 scale aircraft models that were skill level 3, and this is the first model I failed to complete due to the impossibility of it! This sorry excuse for a model is currently sitting at the bottom of our dumpster awaiting disposal and I have to find a new gift for my friend I wouldn't recommend this kit for anyone and needless to say I'll never be buying from this company again.
