The best stand you'll ever use,
By
This review is from: Rousseau 2700XL Saw Stand For Makita 2703, Hitachi C10RA, DeWalt DW744 Table Saws (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had my 2700xl for a few months now. I must say ," Bravo Rousseau." I formerly had the trojan tablesaw stand for my old Makita 2708. I almost got another one for my new makita 2703. I'm glad I didn't. Don't get me wrong, the trojans are very nice . I love the hand truck design. It's very portable. Regardless, I decided on the 2700 xl. The fit and finish are superior. It provides a wider and deeper platform for more stability. The construction is heavier. The fence is both larger and more refined. The side board is actual formica top and bottom, not thin melamine on only one side ,like on the Trojan.Probably the most important difference is that the saw is not mounted permanently in the stand. If you buy the trojan you are stuck with the whole contraption all the time. Not good if you just want to make a few quick cuts on small material. With the Rousseau you have the option of using the saw alone or in the stand. I highly recommend the 2700xl. ( or the 2700 if you have a different saw ) It makes ripping large sheet goods a breeze. Even if you are alone. It extends the rip capacity to 28 inches . If you require more, extentions are available. The fence is very sturdy just like the rest of the unit. It is very accurate, easy to adjust and very smooth. If you are concerned about the saw moving around or being loose because of not being permanently mounted, don't be. Rousseau's engineers devised a very simple yet sturdy and fully adjustable temporary mounting system. Pop the saw in and it doesn't budge. Pop it back out just like that. It doesn't get any better than this. I also bought the outfeed table. With it even long stock is a snap. No dancing around the spinning blade to complete cuts from the back side. It supports 4x8 sheet goods very well. The whole thing is well engineered and well built. Buy one, it could save your back, or maybe even your fingers.I wish everything was as useful as my Rousseau.

Best Portable Saw Stand on the Market!,

This review is from: Rousseau 2700XL Saw Stand For Makita 2703, Hitachi C10RA, DeWalt DW744 Table Saws (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought my Rousseau 2700 saw stand nearly twenty years ago. I am a professional cabinet installer and use this product with my 8 1/4" Makita bench saw. It has been used five days a week, 50 weeks a year for nearly 20 years. It looks awful, there is virtually no paint left on it, the table board and the out feed table are full of knicks, dings, and oops cuts. In addition to use as a saw, it gets used as a workbench, utility horse, mitre saw stand, and lunch table. Through out all the years of job site use, and sometimes abuse, it is still very acurate and holds it's square as well as the day it was new! In my thirty six years in the cabinet trade I've had many tools come and go. None of them can even hold a candle to the quality and durability of this saw stand. This product deserves fifty stars! Thanks Rouseau, you are the best.

I have been a profesional cabinet installer for twelve years and owned this stand for eight. When a new leg locking system came out, I sent in the stand and they retroed it for free and paid for shipping. Quality stand and they stand behind it.

Great Table!,

I am fairly new to woodworking, and purchased the Rousseau PM2700 to hold my Delta 8 1/4" sidekick. This table has transformed my tiny little saw into quite a versatile piece of shop equipment. The large work surface enables me to rip much larger material, and the fence is extremely solid and accurate. I highly recommend this table to anyone looking to turn their portable table saw into something a lot more useful.

This is a great product that gives you maximum benefit from the Makita portable saw. The fence is accurate and secure as advertised and there are many useful add-ons available. Here's my word of caution however. A previous reviewer mentioned that for ease of set up you can purchase the Makita 122731-A stand. He stated that it is "made by Rousseau and that it is the same table only preset for the Makita saw". WRONG!!! Although the Makita table is made by Rousseau and it's pre-set for the Makita saw, it is only almost identical to the 2700XL, almost being the operative word. Because it carries the Makita label, Rousseau evidently had to make it slightly different, and so it is 1 1/2" less wide than the 2700XL. Not a problem if you want to add the Makita 122732-A 49" rip extension, but don't try to add the Rouseau extentions because they won't fit. I learned this of course the hard way, so I want to spare anyone else the hassle. Now this is only relevant if you want to add on a router/rip extention because they don't make one for the Makita table. You could buy the regular extension and cut a hole in it for the router and attach a plate, but why do you need the extra job. After ordering the Rousseau router/rip extension, Amazon was kind enough to let me return the Makita table in exchange for this one (of course I was within the 30 day return window, but they did pick up the return shipping).

good saw stand....but,

This review is from: Rousseau 2700XL Saw Stand For Makita 2703, Hitachi C10RA, DeWalt DW744 Table Saws (Tools & Home Improvement)
Ok, all the reviews for this stand are great,,and I also agree that it is great also, but this is a prime example of trying to make something good even better, it sometimes dosent work.I've first bought the Rousseau saw stand in 1995 when it was a simple and some what light weight. It was around $300.00 for the stand and one out feed table, and it was ready to go out of the box and it fit the 8 1/4 makita saw i had perfectly.Well its been 8 years now and its pretty worn out ,so I couldn't wait to buy a new one. This time i bought an extra side table that allows me to almost 48" cross cut. When i ordered it I understood that it fit three differnt saws, but i thought when i ordered it with the Makita 2703 it would come to fit that saw..NOT. When the table came it was very heavy, and with the extra side table on it ,,for get about it, its not eazyly portable. It wasnt ready to go out of the box , it had to be set up for the Makita, it came with a cam system that drove me crazy to try to get it square and right in the stand, and when I finally got it in the table I couln't get it to cut square, the table next to the saw wasn't installed properly at the factory, so I had to take that off and square it up. Then to find out that the saw sat down 1/8" below that table ,there where supossed to be shims that came with the saw but I couldnt find any. Then trying to install the extra side table with those set screws, when i finally got it on I wasn't about to take it off for storage. So now the table is that much heavyer and that much longer,,it took me about three hours to finally get the saw cutting like I needed it to cut,,it was very disapointing and aggravating. I do alot of custom work so the saw has to cut perfectly, the last saw stand i bought was ready to go out of the box and i think Rousseau should make there stands fit the saw you order with it ,,but after all the aggravation and set up the table works well, and I like the way it looks and is very sturdy, and i can cut full sheets a ply wood without worrying about the stand pushing over. Its worth the money but I wasnt expecting so much aggravating set up...

This has proven to be one of the most versatile tools I own. It is amazing how it adds to the capability of the Makita saw. This has been used for everything from construction to furniture.

As a general contractor doing high end remodeling and new construction we need tools that are both of high quality and easy portability. The Rousseau 2700XL when fitted with the matching Rousseau outfeed table works well for our needs. We have three of these setups as well as two heavier cast iron Delta contractor saws. Ninty-five percent of the time our crews request the lighter Rousseau/Makita combinations. Easy set-up and portability usually win the day for everything but the heavest work. We have investigated both the new, wheeled Bosch and DeWalt job saws and while they are excellent tools their lesser capacity and lack of an outfeed table make them not as useful. We are often cutting heavy MDF or plywood sheets and the extra support and stability of the Reusseau combination works better than awkward roller supports or getting another carpenter to "catch" the outfeed. We like these units enough that we just bought another set.

2700XL set up for Makita 2708 8" saw,

This review is from: Rousseau 2700XL Saw Stand For Makita 2703, Hitachi C10RA, DeWalt DW744 Table Saws (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased this table for use in my home shop. My past experience with Rousseau products suggests that it will perform well. The set up instructions for it, however, are woefully inadequate. They are so poor that 3 stars is generous. They still contain instructions for the obsolete model 2700D, which was the table made for this older, smaller job site saw, and the general instructions for saws other than the ones this table is designed for are very poor. For those of you with the older, smaller Makita 2708, here's how to make the set up easier and less frustrating. (1) Cut three spacers: one 1¼"x28" to go in front of the saw (you need some space so the fence will work); one 5-7/8" x28 to go at the back of the saw; and one ½"x21 to go between the saw table and laminate top. These will lock the saw in place. You might want to put a clamp on the remaining edge for good measure, but it isn't necessary. With the saw locked in place you can see which holes will work best with those nylon locking cams, inventions from hell if ever there were any. I'm not sure I trust the cams not to slip, but that remains to be seen. It would be an easy matter to use the spacers all the time, or even permanently attach them.Using spacers to position the saw while you try to set and tighten those maddening nylon cams will cut your setup time in half, but I would still do it out of earshot of the wife and kiddies. You could also vary the width of the front and back spacers. If the front one is a bit wider you will have enough room to adjust the set screws on the fence without taking it off for trial and error. Those set screws are 4mm.

Sturdy, but not a drop in,
By David H. Herlihy "Dave H." (Southern NH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rousseau 2700XL Saw Stand For Makita 2703, Hitachi C10RA, DeWalt DW744 Table Saws (Tools & Home Improvement)
I read the reviews before I made my purchase. The reviews were a mixed bag and my review may be a summary of others. This is a fine, well contructed table. I like the way it folds - but even better, how sturdy it is when erected. This table does not shake or wobble as you might expect a folding table to do.I have two areas of criticism: 1. I have a 2703 Makita saw and ordered the right table model. This saw 'drops in' but is not perfectly level with the table surface. It is ok for the framing and trim work I have done, but finer, cabinet work could be an issue. 2. The rip fence is very sturdy and was one of the reasons I wanted this table. The Makita fence is not great. However, I find I have to 'play' with the fence to get it to lock where I want. The fence tends to 'jump' slightly as you lock it. This is frustrating to deal with. Again for the work I have done, it was an issue I could work around, but for more accurate cuts this would present a real problem |
