5.0 out of 5 stars It's Finally Here
Those of us deeply connected to Route 66 know that Arthur Krim is one of the road's best kept secrets. He has spent decades engaging in meticulous research of the highway's origins and of the songs, films, and social / cultural impact it has had on our society. 2.0 out of 5 stars Route 66, in the slow lane
This book is not an interesting read, more like a revision of a pHd thesis. I liked the pictures.

Simply put, this man is the John Steinbeck of Route 66 history, and anyone interested in vintage highways should consider this as fundamental to their library as a physician would a book on anatomy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book about Rte 66, September 30, 2006
This review is from: Route 66: Iconography of the American Highway (Hardcover)
This is the best book about Route 66 that I've come across. The many informative maps, vintage photos and smooth writing style of the author make it extremely interesting and enjoyable reading. The book is full of little gems connecting folks like Louie Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry, Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda, Jack Kerouac, John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie, et al, to Route 66. Clearly, Dr. Krim has done a thorough (deep and broad) historical investigation of this world-renown icon and written a superb book that I am thrilled to have in my collection.
