Not his best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Route 66 (Audio CD)
Buddy Greco is one of my guilty pleasures. His style is admittedly not one in tune with the times, but noone can really sell a certain type of song like he can. That said, this album saddened me. I'm afraid he's lost his pipes to a large extent by the time he made this--his range is not there. This isn't a minor complaint--he can't sustain much, or play around with his voice like he used to. He still has the phrasing, and very good small-group accompaniment, but the tracks depress me compared to his earlier work. Wish I could find some more of the older recordings (his "16 Best" is excellent!).

Mr.B's tribute to personal friend Nat King Cole,

This review is from: Route 66 (Audio CD)
Being a long time friend of Nat King Cole, Buddy Greco sang Nat before (wild is Love , it's a beautiful evening etc), but this time only with a trio. I still wonder who's a better musician Buddy Greco the singer or Buddy Greco the piano-player. I only have one advice : buy it!
