In 1959 I traveled with my family from Fontana California (then a very small town about 8 miles west of San Bernardino) to St. Louis Missouri via Route 66. Mr. Lawrence's book has captured the magic and mythology of this fabled American highway perfectly. What an incredible journey reading the book was! I would highly recommend this work to anyone who remembers Route 66 and wants an accurately and beautifully narrated and photographed record of what was an almost mystical experience, traveling Route 66... I would also recommend it to those who have never had the opportunity to travel Route 66, but would like to know what it was like to truly embark upon a road trip. Well done, Mr. Lawrence!
