Open the box and you see a bag of part one will never see in any hardware store parts aisle - does not look like nearly [price]worth of hardware. The first two minutes will give you a headache, faced with a sheaf of instructions and many, many small parts. Once you get to the single sheet of paper specific to your router, things start to ease up. The instructions are very well written, with specific warnings on areas one may go astray on - despite the complexity of the process, the installation goes very smoothly if one follows instructions to the letter.

Drilling a small hole in the bottom of your router base may be necessary, but the model specific templates make that process far less daunting than it should be. Color coded parts and a 'to scale' part index minimizes potential mixups during the assembly process. Total time preparing and installing on my Hitachi M12 router was just under an hour.

Performance is as-expected, solid and smooth, and elegantly simple. When comparing the purchase price of this with other, more 'meaty' models costing upwards of three times as much (considering all we're looking to do is increment the router up or down an inch or a millimeter) the unit is a bargain. No more under-the-table router height knob adjustment contortions here.

Not fancy, not impressive looking, but it sure works well.

I bought this for my Freud 3-1/4 HP plunge router on a Jessem Rout-n-Slide router table. Putting it together proved to be a fairly intense process, including a difficult job of forcing four small compression locking pins onto the legs of the router. However, when I managed to finish installing the Router Raizer on the router, it is really wonderfully easy to raise or lower the bit using the deceptively simple handle bar. I recommend it highly if you don't mind a complex installation.

For the price nothing else compares. It is cleverly engineered and does exactly what it says (very well). I had an installation issue because of bad machining in my Freud FT2000e and Bob (the owner and creator) was wonderful in talking me through a fine solution. Everything is installed and works well. Can't imagine a router table without this or a some sort of lift. Consider this, for what you save buying this over a lift system you can buy an incrajig system!

Directions are clear and precise. Don't let the parts and directions faze you. Basically this is an easy installation modulo the imprecisions of routers (the Router Raizer itself is VERY precisely made).

After reading many magazine articles, advertisements and web sites about the product, I decided it was what I wanted and ordered it. When I received the package, I was satisfied everything was included as mentioned in the instructions. It is true that buyers will receive numerous parts and instruction pages, but after selecting those pertinent to the router being used, the contents are far less intimidating. My particular installation was on a Porter Cable 7539. Everything went together step by step, easily. BTW, I liked using the locater pin for drilling as opposed to the templates. When I had nearly completed the assembly, I noticed a slight gap between two of the parts and called Router Raizer's support number. I was very pleasantly surprised at the attention given to my situation. Friendly, courtesy and product knowledge all came together. The problem was minor - slight burr on the threads. On more than one occassion, I was asked if I wanted to put the phone down and "Bob" would wait. I was also asked if I could be available for a call back just to make sure everything was working as expected -- incredible!

The product is solid, looks good and functions as advertised. Table routing has never been easier. With product quality like this, lots of extra tips about sizes, safety, etc. and the customer service, Router Technologies is among the very best. Every single facet of the product delivers for the reason I purchased it. I think it is well worth the price and time, for all DIY woodworkers and the more serious.

I bought this product because of the cost factor. I couldn't see spending $200-$300 or more on a router lift. The directions are exceptional. All but one of the tools required to do the job I already own. I had to purchase internal spring clip pliers at the local auto shop. Works just as the description says. Templates, parts included, directions are all first class. A defenite must for my router table.

I installed the Router Raizer on my Porter Cable 7539 which is used in a router table application. I was considering the fine adjustment knob from PC, but 3 aspects led me to the Raizer.
1) The fine adjustment knob requires removal of your turret depth stop.
2) The adjustment knob is accessed UNDER the router table.
3) At $25 for a knob you are well on your way to above-table capabilities.
Installation was a couple of hours. A full scale drawing and color coding of similar parts helps you sort the parts needed for your router. The instructions are excellent and should be followed exactly. It is somewhat complex, but very methodical.
I was uneasy about raising a 17lb router with a little 'speed wrench'. I found my concerns to be completely unwarranted. What a great product! Easy, smooth, and accurate.
I gave 4 stars because of 1 major design flaw. It retains all the functions of the router and adds minimal weight, but it took a full inch out of the plunge range. It still has a little over 2 inches of travel, but it makes bit changes a little more difficult (under table). The farther I can get the bit away from my table insert the better.
Overall, I really enjoy using the Router Raizer and would recommend it to a friend.

Amazon targeted me for the combo Hitachi M12V and Router Raizer and I bought both, but they shipped separately. After putting the the Hitachi M12V in a Bench Dog 40-001 ProTop Contractor Portable Router Table(awesome, from amazon) to make raised panels, I was ready to throw the whole thing away because it took 10 minutes to change the bit, and adjustment was pain.

The Router Raizer arrived a couple of days later. After 45 minutes of assembly, I am stunned at how well it works. The control is smooth and exact. The Hitachi M12V lists for $400+, amazon had it for $160. It is so powerful that I can cut at 3.5" raised panel in one pass, and the Router Raizer means I can adjust as needed in seconds.

Get the Xtreme Xtension (not sold by Amazon, but made by Router Techologies). This makes changing bits a breeze because it stays in the router and uses an allen wrench.

I have to say, when I ordered the Router Raizer I thoght I was just ordering a cheap alternative to a lift. After installing and using it, I say who needs a $300 lift when you can have the same functionality for 1/3 the cost. And you can still use your router out of the table. Pair it with a Hitachi M12V, and you've got a router with lift for less than the cost of just the lift. The installation is a little involved, but the directions are superb. It took me just a little over an hour to install.

One recommendation if you get the Hitachi M12V and Router Raizer for table use: get out your jigsaw and cut the template guide tabs off. If you don't, you won't be able to run over a 2" diameter bit. It's really easy and definitely worth it.

I Just recently installed this product on the Hitachi m12v. The instructions (though a little wordy) are right on the money.

Bottom line is: If you follow the instructions you will not have any problems.

The product gives you the versatility to use it in the table as well as hand held.

The instructions did cause me concern about drilling my router table to accept the router raizer. I called the toll free number and the individual quickly and courteously dispelled my concerns. The drilling Templates provided were right on the money.

Took only 20 minutes to install the product on the router.

I was very delighted to find out that the individual who answered my call was the owner of the company. You could tell by the confidence he had in his product that I was not going to have any problems. He was right. I would recomend this product to anyone. Very well thought out and easy to use.

I recently purchased the Hitachi M12V from Amazon and the Benchdog router table from Woodcraft. After setting everything up, I realized what a hassle it was going to be to adjust the height of the router from inside the cabinet. The only decent way to install the Hitachi in the router table, left most of the controls in awkward places.

I went back to Woodcraft to look at some of the router tables they had set up, and they all had very expensive router lifters that cost twice as much as the Hitachi router I had just purchased. That didn't make any sense.

Then I saw a Router Razer ad in a magazine. I read all the reviews on Amazon and decided this was definitely the way to go. I ordered the Router Razer from Amazon. Upon opening the package the task seemed rather daunting. However, other companies could take lessons from Router Technologies on engineering and directions.

The instructions seemed overwhelming until I actually started reading them. One of the first instructions, is to discard most of the instructions. Gotta love that! Once you narrow down the instructions to the ones just for your router you have just a few pages.

I found the instructions and the assembly process to be very simple and straight forward. There are quite a few steps to follow but, each one is actually rather simple.

What started out as a bag of parts (a lot of which you won't use because they are for other router brands) and a stack of instructions (as thick as a magazine) ended up a marvel of function and simplicity. What I really liked best about the instructions, is the sheet with all the parts illustrated life-size and numbered to match the illustrations in the instructions. The Router Razer absolutely works great.

I highly recommend using a dedicated router for your table. It's really not practical to take it in and out of the table for hand use. For the Hitachi M12V, you will have to drill through the base where the height adjustment attaches. Plus, it makes sense to take the handles off as well since they won't be needed.

I ended up taking the money I saved by buying the Router Razer and buying the Hitachi KM12VC 2.25hp plunge/fixed base combo router from Amazon. It is much lighter and easier to use by hand anyway.
