ROVER DANGERFIELD is a very entertaining and well animated feature. The quality of animation is top-notch. The character design is outstanding - especially the turkey, hen and rooster (their scenes are BRILLIANT) - and, most of all, Rover himself. The backgrounds are beautiful and the layouts are terrific. Honorable mention goes to the excellent 3D intro.

The story, with its fine mix of comedy, adventure, and romance, can be enjoyed by a wide age range. Although the city-slicker-among-country-bumpkins plot has been done before, ROVER DANGERFIELD has enough of its own twists and charm to keep it entertaining. The lessons taught (take responsibility for your actions/think of others, not just of yourself) give the movie a solid theme. Most scenes are very funny, however, Rover/Rodney's humor was needed in a couple of scenes to keep things lively. The script also needed some trimming here and there, as too much unnecessary dialogue tends to make some scenes drag. More of the storytelling could have been left to the talents of story artists and animators. In this case, action does speak louder than words..

Being a movie that can be enjoyed over and over again, here's hoping ROVER DANGERFIELD gets the respect it deserves and makes its DVD debut very soon.

It's the best (animated) movie I've ever seen.I saw it for the first time 11 years ago - when I was 7 years old. Great story about dog who got lost and found love...I like it and I would give my life if I could see Rover on DVD.

I don't often (well, never) write reviews but Rover Dangerfield is one that deserves a five star rating for family fun. The kids loved watching Rover and really enjoyed singing along with "I'll Never Do It on a Christmas tree". I strongly disagree with Leonard Maltin's assertion that the film "film wavers uneasily between adult and juvenile appeal". My kids never asked, or needed to, one of those "what's a ----- Daddy". It was just a fun movie for all.

Our family truly enjoyed this movie! A song which we remember with joy is titled, "I'll never do it on a Christmas Tree." Keep in mind our children were between the ages of 4 & 7. That is about as risque as this animated cartoon gets! It was & is a pleasure to see.

It was an awesome movie. I have been desperately looking for the super cool film in DVD. Rodney Dangerfield, who played Rover Dangerfield, is an outstanding actor.

Did you ever want a movie that could capture the attention of the children and also keep you in tune with the action? Rover Dangerfield does it, The underlying adult humor is innocent to the child, however makes the adult smirk , not to mention viewing Rover.. Ahh the red tie, the bulging eyes.. makes you think Rodney Dangerfield was in the movie.. If youve got a rainy afternoon and a room full of kids, make the popcorn and enjoy, you wont be disappointed

This is a great movie including that Rodney Dangerfield plays his own self as a dog, and at the first time, I iike it when the bright lights start to shine to Rover Dangerfield. Why I give this ***** (5 out of 5).

This is probably the best animated family movie. It tells the story of a dog with his luck cut out for him. Envied by his owner's boyfriend, Rover is sent up the Colorado River. Then he is found by a couple of fishermen but escapes to a nearby farm where he finds adventure, love, danger, and excitement. If you are a Rodney Dangerfield (voice of Rover) or a animation fan you need to get your paws on this movie!!.

When Rover is in Las Vegas,He gets a pare of snake eyes. Then,Rocky sends him down the Colorado River. 2 sailors find him. He's adopted by a farmer and is in love. So? This was made the year I was born;1991.Rodney Dangerfield was in this. And I Don't know but this is a good movie. 1991 is filled with laughter. Better than "Rock-a-doodle" or "All dogs go to heaven" This is great. No one else would take this masterpiece away from kids. You must see it if you've seen it or not.

This is a great movie for kids. There are some cute jokes that adults would find humorous too. I would recommend this.
