Built from 1958 to 1973, the P 5 and P 5 B were the last Rovers to compete with the likes of Jaguar and other top British manufacturers.For this reason,a history of these cars is long overdue, and James Taylor could not have taken more trouble with his research. When the book was released, he owned four of these cars, which makes the chapter on restoration tips for prospective owners extremely useful. He also tells readers of rare models that were not available in most markets, like the extremely rare 2,4, and the 2,6, which was fitted with the same engine as the contemporary Land Rovers. In the final analysis, this is an excellent source of reference for any prevoius, current or prospective owner.To anybody who loves British cars,it is a very enthralling read, and it is sure to get anybody not familiar with Rover's history, interested in the other magnificent cars the company have produced before and since.

I knew little about these Rovers before I purchasing and am very pleased with this well written, well illustrated book. The book contains a very detailed account of the development and later evolution of these cars and has many good photos showing the changes. I have always thought that James Taylor's books were among the best on their subject and this is no exception.

This book is the ultimate guide to the P5 and P5B Rovers. It is much more interesting than James Taylor's similar guide to the Jaguar S-Type and 420, probably for two reasons:

i. The P5 Rovers were in production for about 14 years and passed through several engine, body and trim combinations whereas the Jaguars were around for a much shorter time and were not as varied.

ii. When the Rovers first came out they were woefully underdeveloped and the story of how they got them 'right' is interesting.
