5.0 out of 5 stars Customize your sound with ease
If you play you know that metal ligatures are the norm. They hold the reed in place on the saxophone's mouthpiece, and you loosen or tighten it to get the right sound.

This Rovner ligature is made of a rubber (sort of like the inside of a bike tire in consistency - thin but tough) and holds the reed in place while providing a warmer tone, a bit more...

1.0 out of 5 stars Saxophone Ligature
I hate this ligature. Slips all the time, can't get a good tight grip on the reed to hold it in place and stretches out. A piece of crap as far as I'm concerned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Customize your sound with ease, May 1, 2010

If you play you know that metal ligatures are the norm. They hold the reed in place on the saxophone's mouthpiece, and you loosen or tighten it to get the right sound.

This Rovner ligature is made of a rubber (sort of like the inside of a bike tire in consistency - thin but tough) and holds the reed in place while providing a warmer tone, a bit more flexibility for the reed and the ability to tilt the reed with ease to produce the sound you're looking for without too much effort. The change is sound is subtle, but noticeable, in a nice way!

It does take some getting used to, but once you do I think you'll find it superior to metal ligatures. Directions for getting it to work best for you are in the box. Follow them and within a very short period of time you'll be making sweet music!

NOTE: this item also comes with a plastic cap for an alto saxophone mouthpiece. The cap is rather cheaply made, but it does the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars This ligature greatly improved my sound, April 3, 2011
This review is from: Rovner Alto Sax Ligature 1RL (Electronics)
I bought my Rovner Alto Sax ligature several years ago, now. I really like it. I am actually a flutist who took up sax to get into the jazz band in college, so I was looking for every advantage I could get. This ligature definitely helped me tremendously. I know it is far superior to the standard metal ligature that came with my sax. The reed vibrates more easily. I get more and better sound.

I still occasionally play my sax, which is just a student instrument, when there is a need in a small ensemble. Since I don't play regularly, I still need every advantage I can possibly get. I doubt I will ever part with my Rovner ligature. It has seen me through many challenges.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I asked for, January 27, 2011
This review is from: Rovner Alto Sax Ligature 1RL (Electronics)
The ligature is just what I asked for. Seems to be good material and the price was fair, especially for this kind of accesories that are not so easy to find in regular stores. I'll ask for another one as spare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps Intonation and wanes the mount of squeaking, December 20, 2010

The Rovner ligature is a great product. I received this product in goldish color instead of silver which was shown on the picture. This was good for me since my alto saxophone is goldish. What I really liked about this is that the ligature helps you take less breaths during a piece. The quality is amazing. Also, the ligature gets you tuned more easily. It doesn't automatically tune you but gets you darn close. The other great thing was that a long time ago, i squeaked with my bad reeds. When I attached this onto it the squeaking was extremely rare. It makes a bad reed sound great. I recommend this to any serious player. Also if you want to have something better, go on the Rovner website. I'm personally thinking of getting a Mark or Verse Ligature which is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars it does the job, January 20, 2012

this ligature is made of some rubber material. the purpose of the ligature is to hold the reed in place and not to slip. so this ligature does what it has to do; hold the reed in place.

5.0 out of 5 stars great ligature, December 31, 2011
This review is from: Rovner Alto Sax Ligature 1RL (Electronics)
my 10 year old son needed a new mouthpiece and ligature for his beginner sax. this one is great... easy to adjust and holds reed real well. his band teacher also blessed this ligature. obviously we're not professionals so might not be a great judge but it certainly is working well for him in our opinion.
