Love this iron,

Oh my gosh! I just purchased this iron a couple of days ago, so I can't attest to long-term warranty issues. My dog tripped on the extension cord and broke my Rowenta DZ1900, which was nicer than my previous iron. That's all it was ... nicer. Still I decided to try a Rowenta again. This iron is amazing. I've been ironing flax and cotton today. I'm finished in one or two swipes of the iron. All the deep-set-in wrinkles just fall out. I love this iron! Now I can spend time doing something else ... like picking up my stuff all over the house.

So far, I really like this iron! It's everything it says it is and more! It heats up quickly, delivers a consistent smooth result, and is it my imagination, or does it seem to cut down on the time I'm spending ironing?! My old iron would spew rusty water and mineral deposits, staining and/or ruining my clothes! This Rowenta features a filter to avoid having this happen. Hopefully, it will perform accordingly! The only thing I miss is the retractable cord, but I'll deal with it.

I love this iron!!! The heat is perfect for each setting, it steams just right--not blobs of water left on the fabric. The soleplate is easy to maneuver around seams and small areas, and the handle fits my hand well. I have arthritis in my hands and it is not painful for me to iron with this design.

Great Iron - Works Well,

I really like this iron and have been using Rowenta products for many years because of their high build quality. One thing that I like the most about it is its weight -- it's a little heavier (not too much) than my last iron and, as a result, it presses clothes much better and more quickly.
The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because I wish that it had a removable bladder for water (like my prior model did) that I could take off and fill up without taking the entire iron to the sink. This is especially useful when you run out of water for steam in the middle of ironing. That being said, it's not a big deal to fill up the accessory cup with water and add it to the iron as necessary. I would strongly recommend this iron to anyone in the market.

No longer worth its price,

Another Rowenta Master 1600 just stopped working. Its auto on/off had been gradually failing and now it simply does not come on. I bought it less than a year ago and it had been dripping water without a discernable pattern - a big nuisance, but at least it worked. This was my fourth Rowenta since the 90's. The first two were excellent; the third one failed in a similar manner as this one. No more Rowentas for me.

After using this iron for about 10 minutes, it started leaking water and never quit. The iron is very heavy and hard to manuver. Because the surface of the iron is so large, it's very difficult to iron small items or manuver in small areas. Also, it's very difficult to view the level of the water through the dark blue resevoir. My old Rowenta is much better than this new model. M. Weddell Bakersfield, CA

Trips the circuit breaker,

I should have listened to the people who had trouble because of the high wattage tripping the circuit breaker in my house. I didn't listen because I have a relatively new house and didn't think it would happen to me but it has been a problem from the first time I used it. Love the iron but you shouldn't have to reset the breaker every time you use it. Buyer Beware.

What Watts?,
By Stuart S. (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rowenta® MasterTM Ergonomic Steam Iron w/Scratch-resistant Stainless Steel INOX Soleplate (Kitchen)
Just bought this today at Costco and noted that it says "1600 Watts" on the side, but the tag on the bottom says "1700 Watts". Is the 1600 designation just a marketing ploy to justify a lower price for the identical, higher priced model? You lawyers out there - is there anything illegal about claiming less and giving more?
Postscript: I returned this Rowenta iron to Costco because the soleplate had far fewer holes than the model DW-8080 Pro Master, which I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond for $80. The Pro Master's variable steam control lets you iron from completely dry to an enormous amount of steam, depending on what you want. So far, this is the best iron I've ever had and recommend it highly. The drawbacks: (1) it is fairly heavy (but this could be a plus for some); (2) the water level is hard to see because the tank is blue; and, (3) if you use it on heavy steam, you'll be refilling the tank frequently (to be expected). I've used it for several months and it is fast and easy to use and hasn't leaked. Be sure to follow the instructions and drain the iron completely before putting it away, and always store it upright on its heel. |
