5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Great for Travel
Love it for travel purposes. Very Small and Works Great! Better for use as an iron and does spray if you don't know how to use the buttons, but otherwise works great as described as a steam brush!

1.0 out of 5 stars Flat out didn't work!, August 18, 2004
This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
First of all, I *did* think highly of Rowenta and to be very honest... I still think they make great steam irons, probably some of the best on the market. However, this particular product has left a bad taste in my mouth that comes very close to ruining my total faith in Rowenta. Like most people, I would sacrifice paying a little more knowing that in return I would get a sound product. That was my initial feeling considering that the Conair handheld steamers are almost half to a third less than these. However, the "Steam N' Press" falls far short of any reasonable expectations. Not only did it fail me... it failed twice in a row. At this moment I'm preparing for a few business trips and need a steamer for my iron sensitive clothing. I should've heeded the warnings here on Amazon and looked past this steamer since the other model (DA-75) got such bad reviews. But, since it did have the dual voltage feature and 2 large local retailers sold the device I went ahead and purchased it (from the store that rhymes with drys). When I got home I was eager to test it out since my first trip is at the end of this week. Put water into the steamer, waited a minute, waited two minutes, waited a couple more minutes... nothing, not even a drop. Pressed the button a few times and it began to spit rather than steam, in fact no steam came out of it. I thought, "Oh great, it doesn't work!" It did get quite hot and as an iron it would probably be okay but this is not why I bought it! So... I return it that same day to exchange for another thinking... "What are the chances that two won't work?" And, guess what?... I think those chances are pretty good since the same thing happened. Anyway, to cut a long story short, returned the steamer and didn't feel up to test the 3rd time's a charm theory. Who knows, maybe it was a bad batch, but it's hard to believe that any of the previous "made in germany" irons would fail this much. Btw, the iron did have a sticker that stated that it might still contain water from the "factory test". Obviously, I had quite a laugh at the "Iron"y.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yep--another "mine is broken" story, January 12, 2006
By
This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
I had the exact same experience as "A customer from Sunnyvale" with our "Steam 'n Press.

My wife bought this to steam her wedding dress on her wedding day. It (apparently) worked that one time. However, it didn't get used until a few months later, and I couldn't get anything to happen with the steam. My wife and I fiddled with it for a good long time, and ultimately decided that something is broken with the mechanism that discharges the steam. The "iron" portion of this still gets hot--but as "Sunnyvale" said, without the steam this thing is useless.

One use and done--that's unacceptable. I contacted Rowenta (a long distance call, BTW) and since the item is less than a year old if I send it to them (at my expense, probably $10 or so) they say they'll fix it and send it back to me. I'll probably do this, but from other complaints of this unit breaking it seems like the quality control isn't there. Save yourself trouble and go with something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never worked well, then fell to pieces, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
I was very disappointed with this product. Despite following the directions precisely, the iron never steamed at all. It did work for dry ironing. Then a few months later I was packing it for another trip, and found that as I attempted to slip the soleplate cover on just to see if perhaps NOW the steam part would work, it broke into 3 pieces. I would certainly not purchase this product again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great--- must follow Instructions!!!, November 20, 2006
This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
Okay, so I own this steamer. I confess it no longer works, but I believe that is my own fault for leaving water in the reservoir and storing that way, rather than emptying the reservoir after each use.

When I first got the steamer and filled it with water, it didn't work either, just like other reviewers have said. But referring to the instructions, it says to press the steam button TEN (yes, that's 10!) TIMES before the first use. When I did as instructed, and found my patience, the Rowenta began to steam. It was great, and I used it often, religiously emptying the tiny water tank (reservoir) after each use. Then I got lazy. I stopped emptying the water tank after each use, while hot, and I believe that minerals have formed inside the steamer which has blocked the holes.

So my steamer no longer works, and I plan to try to fix thte steamer by using one of those products that removes mineral deposits, and if that doesn't work, it's still a good travel-sized iron.

In the meantime, I'm buying another, and plan to empty the water tank on the steamer while hot so heat will dry out the insides, and store it dry.

Good luck with yours... This is a great product but you have to read the manual and take care of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It actually does what it says, August 7, 2005
This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
After reading other reviews I had my doubts about the performance of this product but was plesantly surprised at the results. You must understand that this steam iron will not give you the same results you would get from your dry cleaner (their industrial sized equipment is the only thing that can do that). But what it does provide is quality bursts of steam that will make for excellent touch-ups on garments wrinkled during travel.

Know what you are buying and buy with confidence.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why is this product even on the market?, January 14, 2007

My DA-65 never worked. The steam never worked from day 1 and the brush/lint attachment keeps falling off. This product is made in Mexico...

There are other combination travel iron/steamers on the market. Make my purchasing mistake your guide. I can see from other reviews that I'm not the only one with problem. 3 thumbs down on this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so great for travel., June 23, 2008

I purchased this steam brush product to take with me on a specific trip that involved packing a few skirts and dresses. The iron itself is a little heavier than I would have liked for traveling, and when attempting to use the product, I found that its performance was not as lickety-split as the ad promised. When at home, using my regular iron would be just as time efficient and the same amount of work. And as far as travel goes, it's not worth the extra weight.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really like this iron., March 2, 2008

This review is from: Rowenta DA-65 Steam 'n Press Iron
I bought this iron about a year ago. Having read the other reviews on this site, I was a little worried it wouldn't work or would break right away. However, in the year or so that I have owned it I have experienced nothing but satisfaction. I use the iron (mainly the steam function) pretty much every weekday. The brush attachment is great. It pulls the fabric straight while you steam, and the little lint remover thing on there helps get the cat hair off my clothes.

My only beef with this product is the water reservoir. In my opinion, it's too small. Then again, this IS a mini-iron. And it is plenty big enough to steam one or two articles of clothing at a time, and refilling the detachable reservior is easy enough. However, sometimes snapping it back into place isn't as easy as it could be. Overall, though, I consider this a minor complaint.

Four stars! Don't let the bad reviews scare you away. Perhaps the company put out a bad batch of these irons, then solved the problem on the ones manufacured later?? Who knows. All I know is that after about a year of almost-daily use, my Rowenta DA-65 is still going strong. I just used it again this morning. Yay!
