The Rowenta BS-360 Origin Scale is a very nice product. The primary reason I purchased this was because my old mechanical scale was becoming less and less accurate. Unlike many scales, the Rowenta has NO MOVING PARTS! That means that the measurements are not as likely to degrade over time. That is a huge advantage over traditional scales, what is the point of a scale if isn't precise? As for the accuracy, I think that I will trust Amazon.com when they say within a 1/2 pound. I get the same weight at my doctor's office I get with this scale! Not to mention, Amazon.com has a killer price on this product compared to the department stores in my area.

Why only four stars then? Will the reason I only gave it a mere four stars because the first scale I received was defective. Although it would show the weight correct, the display was neither clear nor correct (lbs, kg, and stones would all "light" up). But don't worry about that, because Amazon.com has wonderful customer service, and they will solve that problem in a jiffy.

Overall, this product would make a great addition to any home. It may be a little more expensive, but the money will be well spent once you see the quality of this product. Kudos to Amazon.com for their great customer service.

I have this scale. I cannot give it any stars until they offer a replacement battery without going to France. I live in a big city with all kinds of batteries, but not this one!!!!I do not want to write or try to find the manufacturer of this battery. I want to simply locate one closeby. It's not worth it.American companies that sell products without being able to supply batteries and parts should think twice!If there are batteries here that can be substituted for a green lithium 3.6 volt battery, please offer it above separately. They say in the brochure that the battery lasts 10 years. Mine lasted 2 years with one person weighing not more than 1 time a day.I now have no scale as I have no battery.

yes, a beautiful scale, large, happy on your barefeet, good readout.... ah, if only it was the accurate thing they promised... I'm going to return mine to see if the 2nd one works right. This one is inaccurate in that the weight swings 7 lbs one way or the other, within a half an hour.... 10 different weighings withint 30 minutes gave 10 different readings ... not "broken" really, but clearly less accurate than even the cheapest analog scales. But, hey, if everyone else loves it, maybe this one is just messed up too, so hopefully the replacement will work better.

This is an excellent scale, beautifully made, easy to read large numbers and very accurate.

We finally have an excellent set of bathroom scales! Sounded a little strange to be made of wood but the platform is large and comfortable and the display is just perfect! No tapping before you step on. You just step up on the platform in within 5 seconds, your weight is clearly displayed, whether you like it or not! It looks nice, is very well made and completely accurate. We also got a great deal and may not have purchased it at the $65 level. However now that we have one, I would pay that much without hesitation!

My wife and I have been using this scale for several years and we love it! It still looks brand new and works as well as the day it arrived. This scale is very accurate and the display is clear and easy to read. The only negative features that I can think of are: The scale only displays in full and half pound increments (which really doesn't concern me) and the battery is a bit expensive (around $14.00); luckily, though, it seems to last more than a year even with daily use.

If you want a basic functioning scale with a nice design, this is it. I almost bought it more for it's looks than me needing a scale.

Bought for second one for second home. 1st one accurate and attractive ... what else would you want with a scale?

This is a wonderful and correct scale. We bought one for the office and then I had to have one for home. Also very attractive.

I have had one of these scales for a few years now.

Appearance: Pleasing visual design. It's just nice to look at.

Ergonomics: The real wood platform is the key. It just feels better to step on wood with your bare feet than on glass, steel, plastic, etc.

Accuracy: Mine consistently reads 1 pound high versus calibrated scales.

Battery: It uses an unusual and somewhat pricey battery. The first one lasted less than a year, if I recall correctly. I think my present battery has lasted a couple years so far. I would have rated the product 4 stars (instead of 5) because of the battery except for two things: First, the price of the battery (5-15 USD) shouldn't be an issue for anyone willing to purchase this product, which is one of the most expensive bathroom scales. Second, these batteries have become more common. They are even available at Radio Shack. Do an internet search on "3.6 lithium AA" if you need to find one.
