Our new Rowenta stopped working less than 1 week after we bought it, the display started showing "Err" and then nothing at all. We tried popping the battery in and out to no avail. Thinking it was a bum battery I tried to find a replacement...The store we bought it at...sent us a replacement battery but it did no good, the scale is dead.

Shortly after this review was posted I received an email from the product manager of the US distributor who offered to send me a new battery. So far this battery has lasted a week, time will tell how long before it too runs out. Maybe the third times the charm.

The Rowenta is accurate and consistent, giving the same reading time after time. It is a beautiful piece of technology that would look great in any bathroom.

The special lithium batteries are the weak spot of this product, other electronic scales use standard batteries available anywhere but if you don't mind waiting a few weeks you can order replacement batteries from the Rowenta web site.

Well I read the other reviews listed here and it sounded good. So I bought it! I am VERY impressed with it. While it was a little bit more than I wanted to pay for a scale, I have absolutley no regrets. It is worth every penny!

I stood on the two front corners of the scale and got a very accurate measurement (no drifting). Then I got off the scale, and then placed my feet in the bottom two corners of the scale. I received the EXACT same reading as before. A repeat of this with feet placed any where on the scale and ALWAYS received the exact same reading, no error. The four load cells on the bottom are strategically placed and provide for NO variation with different feet placement.

I highly recommend this decorative and professional scale to all.

I'm really happy I purchased this scale. It seems very accurate -- the number it gave me matches my weight on my doctor's scale (same day), and it stayed the same or adjusted only .5 pound when I stepped off and on or shuffled my feet around. (And I weigh near the 350-pound capacity of the scale.) The scale is large enough that I can easily maintain my balance on it and small enough that I can keep it permanently on the floor in my compact bathroom. And it's very attractive -- I don't mind leaving it on display. Plus, large display, no slip, and a quick read -- I can't think of a single complaint!

When an offer for this scale came up in my Gold Box, I read the reviews for all of the scales carefully. This one won.
APPEARANCE -- It looks even better than it's pictures; no complaints there.
PERFORMANCE -- Severely lacking. I already HAD a scale, and only bought another to get one that worked a bit better, so I stepped up to the price on this one. I have to say this is the most disappointing Amozon purchase I've made to date. I read the instructions carefully, I know your weight can vary at different times of the day, etc., but this scale is [1] OFF BY MORE THAN 10 LBS. at times, and [2] INCONSISTENT IN CONSECUTIVE READINGS.
I had occasion to visit two doctors yesterday, and in both offices on one of those 'old-fashioned, black n white, slide-the-weight-across jobbies' my weights were within a pound of each other in the two offices. Difference from the measure taken on this Rowenta before and after? 12 POUNDS!!
In this case that is almost a 10% difference, weigh outside my tolerance level statistically.
Furthermore, If you step on it several times in a row in an hour, the numbers vary normally by at least several pounds, so it doesn't even give a consistently wrong measure (so not even a relative gauge of where you stand in respect of weight).
BOTTOM LINE :: ALL AROUND DISAPPOINTING PERFORMANCE BY THIS PRODUCT
Unfortunately for me (despite having an attic full of 'original packaging') I stupidly discarded this product's packaging, so I am stuck. I now have this expensive item that admittedly is okay to look at if it didn't aggrevate me to see it. Hmph.

What I like about this scale:
- Beautiful metal platform with nice, non-slippery texture.
- Self calibration that allows you to just step on it and get your weight; lots of other electronic scales require a tap and reset first.
What I don't like:
- Display is easy to see, but would be better with a light.

Update: My scale stopped working a few months ago and I couldn't repair it myself. I would now rate it just one or two stars because it wasn't reliable.

This is an outstanding scale. It's very accurate and the half-pound increments help motivate me to stay with my diet. It's also nice looking and works well on my uneven tumbled marble floor.

We have been so pleased with our Rowenta iron that when it came time to replace the on-its-last-legs scale in our bathroom we immediately turned to this brand again - and, we are delighted.

First of all, it displays weight immediately without an arrow wavering back forth as if trying to decide what the poundage is. And, the large read-out is easy to see. After all, I'm weigh up there (pun intended) and the scale is way down on the floor. But I don't have to put on reading glasses to see the numbers.

It is an attractive item, up to the minute in design, so we're happy to have it in our bathroom.

Weigh to go, Rowenta!

I bought it 3 years ago. My wife and I love it. However the "10 years long" battery is run out. We used it once every other day or longer. I don't know why the battery last only 3 years. It is hard to get te battery.

This scale may be [pricey] but the quality is incredible. It is the type of scale that will look great if you leave it out. It is almost a piece of art. It is very accurate and works great on almost any surface.

I purchased this scale in Feb. 2002. It was great while it lasted. The display started showing ERR, and then went dead. I had to search for a new battery, a special lithium one which cost $12.00 and had to be ordered by a store that specializes in batteries. The scale is now dead again. I don't know if needs another new battery or if the scale has just quit functioning.

When compared to other scales, this is not an inexpensive model. The information offered says the original battery should last for five years. It did not. I have replaced it once, and now need a replacement or a new scale. Something this expensive should last. I purchased this item based on the Rowenta name and very disappointed.

It looks great and is accurate, but will it continue to work? Mine didn't
