Product Description

Amazon.com

This iron has everything, including a dimpled, polished stainless-steel soleplate for a smooth glide and an enormous 10.8-ounce transparent water tank for interruption-free work. The DM-990 also has 1,440 watts of power and automatically shuts off in 30 seconds if left horizontal or tipped over (in 8 minutes if left vertical). A self-cleaning button flushes out mineral buildup, and a special resin in the tank neutralizes minerals--both of which extend the iron's life. Operational features on this iron include everything imaginable. There are variable steam settings, including vertical steam for removing wrinkles in curtains and hanging garments, misting spray, and steam burst. The DM-990 also has a double row of steam holes and an antidrip system for when the thermostat is on low. Rowenta hasn't overlooked convenience, either. The center-mounted pivoting cord prevents tangles, the soft handle provides a slip-resistant grip, and antiskid bumpers ensure stability when the iron is upright. This iron carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars great results, February 21, 2001

I have used several irons over a period of 25 years of marriage. I usually buy the least expensive ones, but this time I decided to splurge on myself and buy a Rowenta. I am so glad that I did as it was one of my best investments. It makes my ironing a breeze. I do quilting and I love the steam and the large water capacity. It is a great iron - I wished I had bought it years earlier!

The secret to this iron is steam, and it has loads of it. I was using an inexpensive B&D iron that I picked up at a garage sale. It bit the dust and now I'm ironing with the top of the line. Well it's hardly a fair comparison but I'm glad I got this one. I hate to iron and this iron makes the work go faster as I rarely pass over the same spot twice.

The wrinkles are gone, the creases are firm, If you accidently crease the fabric, and I admit to only testing this on cotton, you can blast it with steam, re-iron and its gone. No other iron I have ever used did this. The rest just left the crease in until the next washing.

Cost, well it made me blanch, but mine was a gift and I'm not returning it!
