Again no steam, nothing.
S. Mcmahon
I tested this and it was incapable of getting wrinkles out of any cotton fabrics (even a thin T-shirt).
L. Look
Easy to use; produces a lot of steam; very efficient at removing wrinkles.

(I published this same review for the Jiffy)

My father bought the Rowenta locally and I tried it out. I'd been wanting an easy-to-use steamer so I checked Amazon. The Jiffy has gotten excellent reviews whereas the Rowenta has gotten ok reviews (most negatives are about durability.) I ordered the Jiffy and borrowed my Dad's so I could compare them.

First let me say that I want a quick and easy steamer mostly to get wrinkles out of Tshirts, shorts, jeans,button-downs etc that I didn't take out of the dryer quick enough. I usually will not be steaming full suits, etc.

The Rowenta is incredibly quick to heat up and start steaming. It literally takes about 30 seconds.
The Jiffy takes about 3 minutes. That's still fast but if you're in a really big rush...

When the Rowenta is heated up it basically just sits idle. I don't think it's losing any water while idle because there's no steam coming out. When the Jiffy is heated up the water is literally boiling inside. You can see and hear it boiling. It constantly releases steam. The bad part about this is if you need to pause for a bit (answer phone, do something else...) then the water continues to get used up. In my case it was pumping out hot steam heating up the bathroom and fogging up the mirror. This brings me to one of the bigger complaints about the Rowenta-the water capacity. The Rowenta definitely holds less water than the Jiffy but I found the Rowenta to be more real-world convenient. 1) because it only releases steam only when you need it (you push the button) and 2) because the Rowenta heats up so fast the capacity isn't much of an issue.

Also, the Jiffy gets hot on the exterior-real hot. So it's not that easy to refill quickly because you have to be careful not to burn yourself.

great product sent ahead of promised time by Amazon I had an older version for about 20 years, and haven't used an iron since i owned it. I loved it until it died. The new one is a similar design but sturdier w/more options. I LOVE IT.

I've had two of these steamers over the past 30 years. The heating units eventually failed because of mineral buildup from the water. This one is a bit lighter than my older one, but it works just as well. And definitely better than several other steamers with large company brand names.

I purchased this unit some time ago and wasn't pleased with it. It does seem more convienient to have the steamer buttons on it to control the steam but the fact is, it just does not produce enough steam to do the job I need it to.
I steam all types of clothing from t shirts to suits. I travel a lot and want a unit that is portable. This like the conair is one of the larger units to transport. The steam is not hot enough to get wrikles out of clothing which has been packed awhile. WHile suits are pretty think and I will give a portable steamer a break on that , my tops are not anything too thick since I live in AZ. Rowetta did not impress me what so ever in this area.
It also bears mentioning that I have tried 6 or 7 different steamers ranging from full size to travel. The Rowetta full size steamer failed to impress me and had a very short life span before dying all together. Again the production of a steam hot enough to get out the wrinkles on the full size steamer was an issue, time of heat up was long, inconsisent steam stream was also an issue.

Conair full size out performed the full size rowetta and American Tourister portable outperformed both conair and rowetta portable.

I hate to iron and try to stick to wrinkle-free dress shirts and pants. Unfortunately, I sometimes forget to take things out of the dryer right afterwards and things come out wrinkled. No problem. I plug this steamer in and it quickly straightens everything out. It heats up as quick as an iron and takes a small fraction of time to straighten cloths w/o damaging them (best for fragile fabrics like silk or rayon).

This works best on items that don't do well with an iron (e.g. silk, rayons, polyester, suits that need refreshening, fragile fabrics, beaded fabrics). Now if you plan to get a the same crisp, starched look with a cotton shirt that you would get with an iron - this product is not the right product (no steamer is designed to do this).

CONS: The water reservior is small, so you'll only get about 3 garmets per refill. If you use the attachments, after three refills, the water from the steam gets trapped inside the attachments and starts dripping on you - the water is HOT and makes a wet mess everywhere. Workaround - don't use the attachments (I've been able to go throught about a dozen items at a time with no problems).

I bought this for my daughter who is away at college, she won't iron anything but a full steamer is out of the question with her limited space at college. I got this despite having some negative reviews and am so glad I did. She usually only steams what she is wearing for that day so the small water capacity is perfect for her. She had her shoulder reconstructed twice so can't hold anything heavy this is just perfect for her needs. I do my steaming all at one time at home so for me it doesn't make sense since it needs refilling so often. She prefers using it without the brush.
