5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy duty!
I just received this board. It's larger than it looks. I was surprised at how wide it is. It's about 50% wider than "normal" boards. Almost like you're ironing on a table.

It's super sturdy and the entire unit is made of heavy duty steel so the board is a bit heavy. It's built like a tank so I expect it to last a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars not for the timid
i was fed up with the SCREECH that every new ironing board that was 9.99-15.99 made, so bit the bullet and bought this massive ironing board. it's large. it's a surf board. it's a sled. but it doesn't make one noise when opening it up. and i'm a man, baby...this board is not for the timid or weak.

i probably needed to know how much bigger it is than normal...

This ironing board is sturdy and the wide ironing surface is superior. The accompanying cover is thick but could be more taut. I'm glad I bought it.

I recently tried the Polder 1751w-69 Deluxe ironing board when this Rowenta was temporarily unavailable through Amazon. The Polder ironing surface was concave in the middle due to the cover being too thin and cheap. The board itself was very sturdy, but after ironing some clothing I just was not happy so I returned it. Soon afterward, this Rowenta became available again so I thought I'd give it a try. I am thrilled with the purchase. The ironing board is stylish and even more sturdy than the Polder. The picture on Amazon isn't a good example of how good it looks in person. Also, the board cover and pad are very thick and supportive for the clothing being ironed. I also recently purchased a Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Iron. The only slight negative about the Rowenta ironing board is that their own iron fits more securely on the Polder ironing board than the Rowenta ironing board. It does, however, fit in the opening on the Rowenta just fine. It just tends to sit crooked and moves around a little sometimes when compared to the Polder which easily holds it in place. Even considering this, I would still purchase the Rowenta over the Polder.

i probably needed to know how much bigger it is than normal ironing boards. i probably needed to have some comparison in weight and actual size. it stands nearly 5'8" tall when folded. definitely not for the studio apartment dweller. unless you need an extra pull out bed or pub height dining table.

4.0 out of 5 stars sturdy and useful, April 26, 2008

I like this ironing board because it sits a little higher which makes ironing somewhat easier. I also like its simple design and resting place for the iron itself.

I iron on laundry day all the clothes at once so I set up the ironing board only once a week. I set it up in front of a chair and iron about 30-40 things at once (family of 6) I am not bumping the ironing board all the time with my legs because the curving of the ironing board legs. It adjusts vry low (for sitting) and very high for my husband (6'2'') It is a bit heavy. It hangs realy flush with he wall when not in use maybe a depth of about 2-3 inches. The hanging bar can be used to hold ironed clothes or strong enough to hold weight of itself for hanging up to get out of the way. I would buy it again.

I love my rowenta iron so when I needed a new ironing board this one caught my eye. It is very heavy and sturdy, the width of the board is wonderful however the dedicated area for the iron will not securely hold my rowenta iron.

OK folks, I looked at A LOT of ironing boards, in all the department stores and online too. I love my Rowenta iron, so I figured they KNOW ironing and finally decided to order this board. I was not disappointed! It is sturdy without being too heavy, easy to raise and lower, and goes high enough for even my tall husband to stand comfortably and iron. I was worried about the width of the narrow end (I iron a lot of shirts and use the narrow end for the shoulder area,) but the width of the point is FINE--and the extra wide main area of the board will be GREAT for ironing curtains and large pieces of fabric. I could do without the iron rest at the end (it is not removeable,) but it's not really in the way either. Overall, this is definitley a 5-star item and it shipped quickly. Thanks, Amazon and ROWENTA!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ironing board I have used, August 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rowenta Precision Ironing Board (Kitchen)
Pros: It is big. It is fairly stable. Opens and closes smoothy. THe iron rest is very secure. Adjusts higher than most so it is good for tall people (I'm 6'). The tubing that it is constructed of is heavy duty.
Cons: The cover is a nice fabric, but tends to slide off like all covers seem to do.

Additionally, it arrived from the East coast by second day air, two days after I ordered it, and that was the standard shipping. I guess this would be a bonus if one was having and urgent ironing emergency situation. I would have preferred a break on shipping cost or price.
