NOT WORTH THE PRICE TAG,

This review is from: Rowenta PowerPress Steam Iron (Kitchen)
Over the years, I have owned way less expensive irons which were dropped, knocked over and generally abused. Those irons gave me years of service. Now that I'm married with 2 kids, I thought I would upgrade my choice of iron to the much lauded Rowenta. Big Mistake! The iron peformed well enough for the first couple of years, but suddenly today out of the blue, it quit working on me! This overly expensive iron has been treated with the utmost care. I am the only one who uses it and it has never been dropped or otherwise traumatized. "Ironically", my cheap iron from back in the day was the one I should have stuck with. The other disappointing twist to this is that the iron only has a 1 year warranty (gee, wonder why). I called Customer Service at Rowenta to see if they would stand by their product. The very polite CS rep told me I could ship the iron back for about $30-60 (my expense, of course) and they would "see" if they could fix it! Sometimes you get what you pay for, but sometimes you get taken for a ride. DON'T BUY ROWENTA IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR IRON TO WORK FOR MORE THAN A YEAR!

The beauty of a Rowenta !,

Ever since I had my first Rowenta, I disregarded all those others. There must be something special and it must be the ability to make the pain of ironing easier! Rowentas come in many styles nowadays. I especially like the Burst of Steam button which clearly fixes some creases, especially those accidently made while ironing.
The power press model has the Pro Vertical Steam button with a powerful burst for those upright garments. This helps for those outfits that don't need ironing, just getting the kinks out. Although this boasts a self-clean system, I can only hope it does well, as I have not noticed it yet, but it is designed to flush loose the mineral deposits. As for the Variable Steam adjustment, there isn't much of a difference in the lower vs. higher shot of steam, buts it's good to know the stream is adequate all around. I like the large water Tank (8oz) and a clear view it allows. And of course it boasts the Anti-Drip system which prevents spitting and leaking when the thermostat is on a lower setting. This is very important, so you don't have drops of water spewing out unintentionally. The Anti-Calc System is designed as an integrated cartridge for extended life of the iron. The unit is stainless steel. So, yes there are good features, and to me, the Rowentas are the best. Iron away!....Rizzo

I have only had this iron for 18 months. A few months ago it started not heating up until I jiggled the cord. This morning it shot out sparks and smoke came out of the cord area.
I have had previous irons that cost less money that lasted 5 years or more. This iron is not worth the money and not to be trusted. Bought at Sams club which I had trusted in providing a good product. Of course the warranty is only good for 1 year. I will not buy another product made my Rowenta

I've had my Rowenta Power Press for over 8 years now.
It heats up fast, produces tons of steam, doesn't snag my clothing due to its INOX soleplate, and shuts itself off automatically when I forget to unplug it when I'm running late for the office in the mornings. I enjoy frequent travel, but when I need to press a shirt and use the el-cheapo iron in the hotel room - I'm always reminded how good my Rowenta is. When this one finally dies, I'll definitely get another.

I had El Cheap-o irons for years. I always aspired to own a Rowenta based on their reputation. The first year it was a dream. Then it started dripping like mad! I only use distilled water, it has never been dropped, and I only iron every couple weeks or so. This iron frustrates me to no end! I wind up having to re-launder my husbands pants, because the iron drips so much they look like the wearer had been eating soup with his hands while he wore them. I looked into buying another more expensive Rowenta, but I think I will just go get another El Cheap-o, and use it for 3 years then replace it. I would still come out ahead!

One great iron, my clothes look as if they just came from the cleaners, & it was done quick and easy.
