Excellent collection from a versatile country artist,
By
This review is from: Roy Clark - Greatest Hits [Varese] (Audio CD)
Roy Clark is far too often stereo-typed as the big-grinning, banjo picking country bumpkin of the Hee-Haw television series. This album is ample proof that he is to be taken seriously as a legitimate musical artist. To be sure, Roy's instrumental prowess is displayed in a powerful rendition of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and in the silly but enjoyable "Lawrence Welk - Hee-Haw Counter-Revolutionary Polka." He also does some grinning with the thoroughly tongue-in-cheek "Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone." However, Roy Clark's very best offerings are ballads, and he excels at heart-rending lyrics. Three of his best are here; "Tips of My Fingers", "Yesterday, When I Was Young" and "Somewhere Between Love and Tomorrow." Also included is Roy's homage to the gritty side of country, "I Never Picked Cotton." If you are a fan of Roy Clark, this album will become a cherished addition to your collection. If you aren't a fan, this disc will make you one.

Here is the single best Cd of Roy Clark available. All of Roy Clark's biggest and best known songs all in their original versions all on one disc. Very good packaging also, with a great biograhpy along with recording dates and chart positions.

Great Album, Amazing musician,
This review is from: Roy Clark - Greatest Hits [Varese] (Audio CD)
When I was young I used to hate having to watch "Hee Haw", Then when my parents split up, and my mother gave me a box of stuff my dad left behind, and said to throw out what I didnt want. I listened to this album, it is ammazing, Roy Clark is an amazing musician, very versatile and creative. He knows so many instruments and is very good at them all. Almost like an older version of Phil Collins. I reccommend this album to any one who wants good quality music!
