This is the most thorough, researched, annotated accounting of the lives of American Icons: Roy Rogers (Leonard Franklin Sly) and Dale Evans (born Lucille Wood Smith). It is for the dedicated fan, perhaps those who were the toe heads who sat in the dark on Saturdays to watch Roy and Dale as embodiments of the spirit of the American west in the movies, on TV, and in personal appearances.

Who knew that Dale was married four times,that Roy was married three times, that Roy smoked until his heart problems when he was in his 50's. Who knew that there were two or three or more "Triggers". Yes, there are the seemingly juicy details, but even more, there are the details of two hard-working entertainers and parents who put their love for their kids up front and manifested their life-supporting ideals in the kids that they adopted and those they helped along the way. By today's standards and conveniences, they worked unbelievably hard to translate honest talent into stardom.

The research begins at their births and continues up into the 1980's. It covers their musicography, radio history, filmography, television history, comicography, photographic history,commercial art, attire, "Trigger", and collectibles and merchandising history.

This book gives a lot of information and I would purchase again. Lots of facts on Roy Rogers memorabilia and merchandise but also details in the beginning of book on Roy Rogers life too.

this is a great book for fans of Roy Rogers and his wife Dale evans. it lists all his films, and chronicles his life and career upto 1994. it is a wonderful book, but needs updating and perhaps the filmography be more in depth on his movies and tv series.
