This 1940 "English Chintz" tea set includes a teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer and was chosen to be the first tea service of the series. Crafted of bone china with luxurious 22-karat gold trim on the bases, handles, and pour spout, the design represent a decade that endured World War II with Britain rallying under the leadership of Winston Churchill. This motif showcases a typical chintz design of the time with sprays of roses and forget-me-nots in a soft palette of pink, blue, and purple on an ivory crackle background. Scalloped rims and gentle contouring add to the homey yet graceful feel. Each piece has a special commemorative backstamp, and the set comes packaged in a presentation-style pink and burgundy hatbox with depictions of all the patterns. The china is dishwasher-safe and carries a two-year warranty. --Kara Karll

This is a pretty teaset, well-detailed, full-sized, with an attractive chintz pattern. Wish that Royal Doulton hadn't stopped its production of English-made china. As it is made in Indonesia, it is acceptable quality at a rather premium price. Would recommend.

Frustratingly, the advertiser does not state the size of the tea pot therefore one has to guess at it's size which has put me off. It would also be helpful to know what stamp it holds. Appears to be a good deal but 2 strikes and they are out for me!
