I have used Royal cash registers before and my older model is more literate than this one. A very frustrating fact that I did not know about before I purchased it was that you cannot start a transaction with a refund, for example an exchange. It makes every item you key in a negative amount. You have to do the return as one transaction, then do the purchase as another transaction. That is very cumbersome and I feel a step back for technology. Too bad Royal. You had a good product at a good price but not user friendly.

Reset Grand Total cannot ever be done,

In general, the register works great but 2 major flaws to it are that 1) If a person wants to do an exchange. You need to do the item they purchased first, then hit the return button to return the other item. 2) This is the biggest flaw: You cannot reset the Grand Total each month or year. I called the Customer Support to make sure I wasn't reading this wrong. To set the Grand Total back to "0", you need to clear ALL the memory. So if you have 5,000 plus and 200 departments filled with info, you need to clear them (and start ALL over) just to reset the cash register to zero on the Grand Total. My 14 year old Royal Register 482nx does it, why can't something in the modern age do this? The departments, group, plu information is fantastic. The use of checking how well my various sales people are doing is also a plus.

Run don't walk away from this register. Billed has the replacement for the 9155sc this register will only allow ROA's as cash and you can't download monthly reports rendering it useless for my application.
