5.0 out of 5 stars Paris Bennett is Back!
After her scattershot debut album Paris Bennett, a finalist at American Idol season 5, returns to what she knows best - jazzy music. She does a great job with her band, creating fresh versions of old classics and delivering a couple of new songs. 3.0 out of 5 stars A few nice songs, but a lot of corny chatter.
A lot of the songs on the CD showcase the beautiful voice that Bennett is blessed with. What troubles me, however, is the fact that someone thought it would enhance the CD to have a lot of silly chatter like "You've officially been princessed" throughout the CD. The twelve days of Christmas could have been a hit without the counting to twelve in the prelude - what are we...

As Stevie Wonder, Brian May of Queen, Rod Stewart said: Paris has a great future in music.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's more like it!, December 15, 2008
This review is from: Royal Christmas (Audio CD)
I am among those who wasn't thrilled with Paris' debut album. Since I love X-mas music, and at one time really liked Paris, I decided to get this one too. Generally I like X-mas music best traditional style, but here and there I hear another arrangement of something that I can enjoy just as much. So, Lil' Drummer Boy was surprisingly my favorite, what a fun arrangement! My other fave is Holiday Shuffle! Nice work, I dig this X-mas album!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is how Paris should sound., December 9, 2008
This review is from: Royal Christmas (Audio CD)
I don't know what they were thinking with Paris' debut CD, but THIS IS THE TYPE OF MUSIC PARIS SHOULD MAKE! Her version of 12 Days of Christmas is my favorite NEW Christmas song of the year and my favorite version of the 12 Days of Christmas. If her new CD (next year) will have sound like this, I'm all for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars a pleasant and fun holiday surprise!!!, December 1, 2008

I was looking for holiday music---new and old---to add to my collection. After searching Amazon for ideas, I came across this page and figured I'd just experiment (there were only two reviews). I'm not an American Idol follower, so that was the first time I recall paying any attention to the name Paris Bennett. Well, I put it in for a preview listen yesterday and have pretty much been playing it since.

I LOVE this project...and it was instant! It is so much fun to listen to!! I truly enjoyed the entire album. There were more traditional renditions of holiday classics: Silent Night, Away in a Manger, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and Auld Lang Syne. But Paris got some vocal play time in as well with 12 Days of Christmas, Deck the Halls, Lil Drummer Boy, and Holiday Shuffle. LOVED it from start to end. And props to her mom who co-produced and sang backup for this project...good for you!

Get it!! I think it'll be relevant work for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Cd out there to get you in the holiday spirit., October 29, 2008
This review is from: Royal Christmas (Audio CD)
Paris Bennett is back, and this time, shes aiming to please her fans. "A Royal Christmas" is just the album her fans were waiting for. It combines chrismtas song and her jazz style - which leaves you wanting more! I highly recommend this album for anyone who wants to get in the holiday spirit, and enjoy wonderful music at the same time.

A lot of the songs on the CD showcase the beautiful voice that Bennett is blessed with. What troubles me, however, is the fact that someone thought it would enhance the CD to have a lot of silly chatter like "You've officially been princessed" throughout the CD. The twelve days of Christmas could have been a hit without the counting to twelve in the prelude - what are we pre-schoolers? And then after the eleventh day, the music suddenly goes from a happy, finger-snapping rhythm to a slow groove that leads into the twelfth day of Christmas. It really sounds like a different song. Why? There is really too much going on on this CD that takes away from a potentially good CD.

1. "Christmas Time"-5 out of 5!!!!!!!
2. "12 Days of Christmas"-5 out of 5 I love her spin on this classic

3. "Away In A Manger" 5 out of 5 the real meaning of CHRISTmas
4. "Deck The Halls" 5 out of 5 i never knew this song could sound so...JOLLY! lol

5. "God Rest Ye Merry" 4.5 she puts her signature jazzy sound on this one
6. "Holiday Shuffle"-I can't rate this song simply because she SOUNDS great but...i tend to prefer songs that talk about the reason for the season or one of the classics from when i was a child

7."Lil' Drummer Boy" 5 out of 5 The ode to "Color Purple" was clever!! I love this version!
8. "Not Alone This Christmas" Again, i can't rate this song...she sounds good but this is more or less R&B

9. "Silent Night"-5 out of 5!
10."Auld Lang Syne"4.5 out of 5!

GOOD job Paris (princess p)
she needs 2 come out with a gospel album! ;-)

*Paris Bennet sounds like Brandy with a tinge of Fantasia in her vocals. (especially on "Away in a Manger")

4.0 out of 5 stars Doing the family well, December 20, 2008

This review is from: Royal Christmas (Audio CD)
Paris was great on American Idol. Her voice needed more harnassing though. Reminds me alot of Chrisette Michelle with word phrasing. Her Billie Holiday influences are evident on this disc. All in all I enjoyed this cd. She brings a youthful joy, when she sings. Coming from a musical family with grandma(Ann Nesby)leading the pack, how could she go wrong? Very intoxicating. I hope when she ages a little more and grows with her craft, she becomes a singing superstar.
