5.0 out of 5 stars Drake flatware set
This flatware is heavy and sturdy. It is not elegant. If you are looking for elegant you need to look elsewhere. With that said this flatware is very durable. Yes it is wrapped up in paper, maybe piecemeal, but why does that really matter. The flatware is in perfect condition and well protected and I could use it at any dinner occasion at my house. 1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely LOW Quality
My fiancee and I took them out of the box, looked at them for 30 seconds and immediately noticed the low quality finish with sharp edges and clear machine marks on the edges and corners of virtually every spoon and fork. Knives looked fine, but I'm sure if we held on to them long enough, we would have found flaws with them. Immediately put them back in the box and sent...

3.0 out of 5 stars Royal Cuisine Drake 46-Pc Stainless Steel Flatware, Service for 8, May 22, 2007

I like the simple shape of the flatware. I would have kept it if the edges of the flatware were smoother and evenly shaped. It looked to me like they were rejected by the Quality Controller because some of the pieces had uneven edges and some of the pieces had scratches on them already. It could be because they were not wrapped individually and could have rubbed against each other while in transit. Better packing could have avoided the scratches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good deal, May 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Royal Cuisine Drake 46-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 (Kitchen)
Just moved out on my own and was looking for some nice, practical and affordable flatware that weren't too decorative or flowery. The quality of this set were better than the ones I've seen at Target for the same price, plus there's 8 of each instead of the typical 5 in addition to the extra serving set. However, packaging came in a cardboard box with each piece wrapped in plastic, may not look very nice as a gift unless the person you're giving it to doesn't mind. Good weight, not too light, size everso slightly smaller than the more expensive sets. And for those that care, all but the knives were made in Japan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks great...until you wash them., July 25, 2007
This review is from: Royal Cuisine Drake 46-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 (Kitchen)
I bought a couple of these sets for myself. Was pleased with them as they seemed pretty heavy, looked nice, and the edges weren't rough. Then I got into the second box...the serving set did not match the pattern of the silverware. Of course, when I contacted Amazon this pattern was out of stock so I couldn't exchange them.

Also, DO NOT PUT THESE IN THE DISHWASHER!! THEY ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO CORROSION & RUST! Something I found out the hard way. Now I have to wash them all by hand.

I paid $15/set, so I didn't expect much. The saying "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. But in hindsight, I'd probably have saved my money and purchased a more quality set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Deal for the money!!, June 12, 2007
This review is from: Royal Cuisine Drake 46-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 (Kitchen)
For the money this set is the absolute best buy! It is much sturdier than other flatware I have seen for double the money.....I bought this set for $16.99! Great set......clean look........only down size is that if you are not careful it will pick up water spots. I would definitely buy this set again! Great everyday set.

Well worth the price, but it arrived horribly packaged, and horribly scratched up.
For new flatware, I would expect it not to have been scratched up regardless of the price.
Just glad it was nt for a gift.

I really love this set. I was looking for an inexpensive set with a large amount of silverware that wasn't going to cost and arm and a leg and this set turned out to be exactly what I needed. It's simple in design and sturdy in wear. I would recommended this set to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bland, dingy, but cheap, May 23, 2007

This review is from: Royal Cuisine Drake 46-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 (Kitchen)
These look nice in the photo but don't be fooled... there's a reason these only cost $15! They arrived dingy, scratched up, packed in a makeshift hand-made box that originally housed some kind of rags by the label, and looking like they came from a second-hand store. The Amazon photo makes it look like they're a nice satin silver finish but the real thing is a flat, bland grey with a style that screams, "I stole these from Denny's!"

For a utilitarian outdoor dining set, college students on a budget, those restocking your low-brow diner, or for anyone who simply don't care what they eat with as long as it's not plastic, these will do. But don't expect to get more than what you pay for.
