5.0 out of 5 stars Good sturdy flatware
We were looking for a economical set of stainless for our RV. This set is nothing fancy but should last us forever. Pieces have a good heft to them,
the tines on the forks (which is to us a good indication of quality) seem quite strong. Spoons and knives also seem very durable.

A very good value!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as stunning as pictured...
Now I understand the differenced between 18/0 and 18/10. This is a 18/0 stainless steel set, which means that it's easier to get rusty and not so polishing as 18/10 stainless set. It also has rough edge. Not suitable for gift purpose or formal dinner! Considering the price, it's still a good buy if you always lose your forks and spoons.

After reading the previous reviews, I was EXTREMELY skeptical and I highly anticipated that I would return this item. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when the set arrived. Although it arrived in a "rag" box, all pieces were individually wrapped. All of the pieces (except the knives) were in very good to excellent condition. The knives, because of their surface area, show signs of minor (very minor) scratches. They are heavyweight and feel great in the hand.

Keep in mind that Amazon shows the same reviews for all four sets of Royal Cuisine sets: Aaragon, Duke, Drake, Le Ciel. I believe that some of the customer experiences may be inherent with one type of set and not all of them. Without knowing which set each customer is reviewing, it's hard to tell which sets are problematic. However, the set I purchased was better than expected.

I purchased the Le Ciel version and they remind me of nice airline flatware, similar to first class utensils. They have "Made in Japan" stamped on each piece, which is surprising to me since almost EVERYTHING is made in China these days. For the sale price I paid, you will not find anything close to this quality in the big box stores or Linens N Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond. For kicks, I looked at Walmart and the bedding stores over the weekend to see what I could find. You get half this quality for twice the price. Thank you again Amazon for bring quality at extremely low prices! One reviewer noted that the serving pieces are the same size as the knives and forks, but I found them very comparable/identical to all serving pieces that I've seen in other sets.

I got them to place in my camping kit, so that we don't have to use plastic utensils and throw them away everytime, saving money and the environment. They are perfect for my use. I would recommend them for everyday use, but if you are extremely picky and/or have a very special dinner, they may not be for you. Highly recommended!

I bought these about a week ago and have mixed feelings. The set is well constructed, heavy and sturdy. They do their job well. The fork tines are sharp, the spoons are nicely rounded. However, the packaging was deplorable. The set came in a cardboard box with no real markings on the outside. When I opened it up, the items were just thrown in the box loosely. They were rubberbanded together but due to their weight, some had gotten loose of their plastic sleeves and had scratched up other pieces. Also, some items oddly don't seem to have been stamped well with the "made in Japan" mark. My boyfriend thought perhaps they had been used. I don't think they were, however if I had known the packaging was going to be like this, I may not have purchased this set. In the end though, I do have to say I'm glad I purchased them. I was looking to replace some very cheap flatware with plastic handles that were falling apart. These fit the bill more than adequately as they will definitely last a very long time. On the appearance though, I do have to say that they do not look exactly as pictured. The pattern on it is raised in the middle and slopes off to the sides in an angular pattern. Slightly fancier than something you'd see in a diner and just as sturdy.

I purchased this set to use for Thanksgiving dinner in '06. I got two sets for the price it would have been to rent the flatware from a local party supply store. When they arrived I was impressed for the weight of the pieces comparable to the price. Not your showcase flatware but would be great for a first apartment or house warming present. Has plenty of pieces so that if you loose one or two you can still function.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It, July 18, 2007
This review is from: Royal Cuisine Le Ciel 46-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set (Kitchen)
I took a gamble on the super cheap price and funky design and ordered a set. Looked at them for about 5 min and packed them back up for return. Rough, very sharp edges on all utensils -- you're likely to cut your lip. Sizes are irregular -- the teaspoons are very small. Spend an extra 15 or 20 bucks and pick up something you'll actually be able to eat with.

I bought the first set a little hesitantly given the 19.99 price and some negative reviews, but ended up liking them so well I went back for another set when they were only 14.99! Great bargain. I think maybe two of the knives showed small rust spots early on, but since then no problems at all and they've been through the dishwasher dozens of times.

I received my set 3 days ago and they came in a plain brown box. The individual pieces were in their own plastic bag. I was impressed by the heft and weight of this set. I was afraid it would be light and flimsy like the sets you find in the discount stores. This was difinitely not the case. I examined each piece and I didn't find any scratches on them. Each piece was bright and shiny and the edges of the spoons were smooth and rounded. The forks were fairly sharp pointed and not flat and dull like the cheapies. The knives are plenty sharp and they have good weight to them. They feel good in the hand and my whole family loves them. I would not hesitate to set the table with this set if I was entertaining. I would buy this set again in a heartbeat. It is a real bargain.

I previously had bought a Ikea set that looked somewhat similiar for group of 4 for much more. This set was beautiful and simply at $19.99. If I was buying it for someone that was a grad or as a house warming I know they would love it as well. The design on this set is pretty modern and good looking.
