I love Royal Doulton - Gordon Ramsey tableware. It is very sturdy and well made. It's dishwasher and microwave safe and simply elegant. The week after I got it my son's friend dropped one of the plates off of my counter onto my tile floor. I was sure as it was toppling off the counter that it was going to shatter into a million pieces. But it landed on the floor and only had a few chips off the edges of the plate. Unfortunately it wasn't fixable, but I think that the plate held up very well for falling from a 3 foot counter top onto a tile floor. My only regret is that my son didn't use paper plates when his darling but clumsy friend came over for pizza...

I wanted to do a "zero" star with caution. Sure this stuff looks good for a while and is probably rather durable; but after a few months, discoloration of the glaze started that was not surface. Nothing similar happened to other household china being maintained in a like way. The china was also prone to be easily scratched. With lead and cadmium being issues with other China made products, we returned the set to the retailer for a full refund. Our advice, keep looking; but be prepared to pay more if quality is indeed what you want. China from China well.............. you decide.
