This review is from: Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton White Porcelain 9-1/2-Ounce Ramekins, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
On the day these ramekins arrived, I decided to take them on a test drive. By coincidence, I picked up the January (2011) issue of People, and what did I find---the 'no fat is ever too much,' shameless Paula Dean (gotta love her), and her recipe for decadent 'Baked Chocolate Custard with Butterscotch Whipped Cream.' Baked in ramekins, of course. It had to be destiny, right? While Paula's recipe called for 6 ramekins, I thought, 'what the heck, there's never too much chocolate per serving; I'll stick with 4 larger ramekins.' I was decidedly wrong, but tummy-ache aside, it sure was fun learning this the hard way.
It goes without saying, that many dessert recipes prepared in ramekins are quite rich, and the smaller ramekins are probably a better idea. At 9 1/2 ounces, these ramekins provide hearty servings that would be excellent for savory dishes, such as little pot pies, maybe French onion soup, or individual veggie dishes. I can also see them used as party serving cups for dips, salsas, etc. As large as they are, they will be multipurpose, making them an essential item for any well equipped kitchen. As always, Royal Doulton knows their porcelain. These are finished beautifully and clean-up easily. They're classic in design, but also have an elegant appearance indicating quality. They would make a lovely presentation on any table, from breakfast cereal, to a picnic, or even a black-tie dinner.

They look really nice. They're slightly taller than the usual, which I think is a good thing. I've used mine tons since I got them, for everything from nuking eggs to making miniature flourless cakes to prepping spices and veggies. I've even served my toddler cheerios in them. They were what I grabbed first for dying Easter eggs too.
They're really pretty in a nice, subtle way and they stack upright, although I'll admit my ramekin tower does lilt slightly. I just absolutely love these.

For someone who is trying to give up making desserts, these were a terrible buy. They're definitely the most elegant ramekins I have seen - nice white porcelain and a good size for any stylish dessert treat. Provides far too much incentive to keep on cooking!

These are very stylish and very versitile. I not only use them for souffles but for individual fruit crumbles & soups.

We bought these for a party...and they have been a great addition to our serving ware. Great size for a large pot pie.
