This review is from: Royal Highness (Audio CD)
i got this album back when it first came out during my stoner days. i have to admit my first time listening to it i thought, "what the f**k is this?". but after listening to it again a few more times, i really started to like it. the album was different than anything else out there. this is definitely a true stoner classic.
favorite songs are: bong tokin alcoholics, so high, bump, what's you trip, and high society. this album is a must have for any kmk/subnoize fan. i highly recommend it.

Slammin group!,

The first time I ever heard of this group was at a concert they were playing at in April of 1997. I was hooked from the second they played their LP while setting up. This is definately a band to listen to at least once. Their mix of rap with rock is excellent

This band has it going on!,

I first heard the song Suburban life on the radio and thought it was good. Bought the cd and listened to the music a few times. Then listened to the words, and it made me a fan. Their lyrical talent to rhyme and be creative is far superior. The song "play on" is probably my favorite.

Kottonmouth Kings at their best!,
By Sean (Perth, Australia) - See all my reviews

The KMK are one of the few bands that haven't hit the mainstream and remain undeniably original. Of course, with most bands, the first album is the best, and this applies to the KMK as well. Royal Highness is the band at their best. This has absolutely nothing to do with the split with Saint and taking Johnny Richter on board, as many people believe. The reason why this album is their best is not because of Saint, it's because of the entire band. The album has a raw, slightly unhinged feel to it, as heard in Bong Tokin' Alcoholics and Misunderstood. Some bands attempt to fuse musical genres together, and fail miserably. From the reggae feel of Dog's Life and Psychadelic Funk to the punk sound of Spies, it becomes apparent that the Kings are versatile, able to flow from one sound to another seamlessly and perfectly. Daddy X's production outdoes even Dr. Dre's work; he creates such an intricate shotgun of sound that it will make even the most weary hip-hop junkie's eyes widen in surprise.Opening with Bong Tokin' Alcoholics, the album slaps you across the face in the first minute. 'Gettin bent every night is the thing we do - I get up everyday in the afternoon.' What you get is the Kings finest work, crafted into a 75 minute blast of hip-hop that screams 'not sane'. This is one for the houseparty.

Amazing!,

This album is incredible and I believe it shows the real show of the Punk Rap group's style. I am incredibly fascinated at what some people say about the album totally being a waist of money. I have to tell them that if they think the only good song thay sing is the version of "Suburban Life" Scream II soundtrack they're weird. Scream II had a really bad soundtrack and if you can name one song good on it I will be surprisd. I can name at least five good songs on the Kottonmouth Kings CD. This is a definate numero uno for music lovers.

Different but wicked!,

When I first heard them on the radio i thought "Why are they playing this on a rock station? They sound like rap!" Then I saw them live and I totally changed my mind. They have punk songs along with their hip-hop beats. The CD is great but it will never compare to seeing them live.

I bought this CD when it first came out. In my opinion this is the ONLY Kottonmouth Kings CD worth buying. After this CD came out Saint Dog left the group and Johnny Richter came in and f*ucked it all up. Buy this KMK album F*ck the rest. That's all I have to say about this s#it. Much Mutha F*ckin Wicked Clown Love
