Book Description

Royal Horticultural Society October 3, 2007
The latest in Frances Lincoln's series of RHS treasuries, this charming anthology brings together a wealth of poetry and prose from a broad range of writers, from the Roman natural historian Pliny and the Chinese poet Po Chü-I, to Sir Walter Scott and Robert Fortune, to twentieth-century poets such as Seamus Heaney. The poems and extracts are illustrated with botanical prints from the collection of artworks at the Royal Horticultural Society's Lindley Library, acknowledged as the world's finest horticultural library.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"'People care about trees. More than most plants, they have the power to touch our emotions, cheering us, calming us, sometimes even frightening us, especially when they crowd together in forests. Life would be very strange and barren indeed without them.' Charles Elliott, from his introduction."
