The first counterfeit product I ever got from Amazon...

(If you click the larger image of the golden paper package, you can see that this product is labeled "Product of Korea" and "'''''''" (upper middle black characters) which is Chinese for "product of Republic of Korea" (South Korea). It also says "Manufactured in Korea" on the side of the package. The Nutrition Facts table is in English and Korean, anywhere else you can find only English and Chinese.)

4 layers of packaging:

Almost immediately after I received the product, I knew it was a knock off made in China. It's just the instinct. The plastic cover wrap is very Chinese and the golden paper package is also very Chinese if you see the reverse side of it (the inside); it has that particular grayish color that you find on a lot of packages in China.

Then there's the aluminum-plastic wrap inside the paper box and 100 individually wrapped packets of ginseng tea inside the aluminum-plastic wrap. There are only Chinese and English texts on those two layers.

Importer & Manufacturer:

On the golden paper package it says the importer is "herba natural products inc. brooklyn ny 11232". The company has a one page website that only says it sells green tea. Sure you can find the number of this company but I didn't even bother calling because 1. it was last night when I opened the box from Amazon. 2. they would just lie to you or pretend not understanding what you are talking about I guess.

I then searched for "'''''" on Google Images, which is the Chinese name of the product (printed right above "Deluxe Instant" on the golden package). On the 2nd page of Google Images you can find a picture that looks almost identical to the product. it leads you to some info about the manufacturer "'''''" which is in Haining city, in Zhejiang province in China.

What I did next was obviously searching for this company, getting its number, and using Skype to call China where it was morning.

Anyway the end of the story is I confirmed that they manufactured the product using ginseng from northeast China (where all raw Chinese ginseng is from).

What you should know is that this product is mislabeled as made in Korea. Although Korean ginseng and Chinese ginseng are almost identical botanically (Northeast China/Manchuria and Korean peninsula are next to each other), I wouldn't suggest that you purchase this particular product because for non-pharmaceutical imports of herbal products I don't know how the government checks the quality if they do that at all. Plus, no matter where it's made, Korea, China, or America, it should never be mislabeled.

Happy with quality, delivery and taste. I am an acupuncturist/herbologist; my patients prescribed to drink this tea have had good results.

Some reviews complained about the bitter taste--note that this is unsweetened product, just straight ginseng. The natural taste of ginseng is bitter and has a unique smell. It is an acquired taste, not everybody likes it. Keep in mind this is medicine, not a gourmet beverage ;)

This product was not made by the same company that was advertised and is bitter and not at all what I expected. The company also has failed to reply to my e-mail.

I have used various types and brands of ginseng off and on for almost 40 years, and my opinion of this ginseng is that it is very good. Unlike the earlier reviewer who said it tasted unlike some ginseng she had had, I find this brand has the characteristic taste and slight sweetness of all instant Korean ginsengs I have used. I think it is quite effective as well, both calming and invigorating. I like it and I am going to order it again.

I was looking for the brand that I used once before. And I am pretty sure this is it. I just don't remember it being so bitter. I would still recommend it to my friends. I like it and it works for me.

I have just purchased my second box. This tea tastes great. The first box arrived kinda beaten up but the contents were intact. I received the shipment in a reasonable amount of time

This is really good tea! I've been ordering it every time I run out and it's always the same good taste and high quality. It's slightly sweetened so you don't have to add as much sugar and gives a real kick to my tea.I also mix it with oolong and it is divine.

Based on other reviews I was a little apprehensive to purchase this item. After all, how could it be so cheap and good quality?

I am very glad I purchased it. The ginseng tea is very good.

I believe as stated in the other reviews the problem that one person had with it is that it is unsweetened.
It is instant and I either add it to my green tea or drink it alone. In both cases I add a little honey to it to sweeten it.
The picture of the item isn't the best. That is a picture of the top of the large box. The large box contains smaller boxes, which contain foil packets.

My previous seller closed his business so I had been searching a while until I found this tea. IT is truly an excellent Ginseng and I highly recommend it.

I was given some instant Korean Ginseng tea by a friend and now its gone so I ordered this thinking it was the same. It is not, it smells bad and it is bitter. It is really nasty.
