I bought this as a starting point for learning oils. And while the kit got me going, I quickly learned enough about oil supplies to where if I could do it all again, I may have chosen differently. The paints come in 12ml tubes(1/3 of the size of standard studio tubs) and in my experience were much drier than other oils I have purchased which made them alot harder to work with. I've also since changed out the palette, palette knife(the included plastic is bad) and many of the brushes. The included easel is VERY nice as is the tote.

All in all, if you are looking to try oils, I think this is a great starting point at a good price(just get some linseed oil for the paints). Just expect to want to swap some stuff out as you go along.

I'm taking an art course this semester and was looking for an inexpensive kit for an upcoming project. I found this kit for $12 and free shipping with Amazon prime. I ordered it despite the lack of reviews and the poor product description, and am very glad I did! It comes with everything you see in the picture (except mine had an oval palette, not a square one) and everything seems to be of good quality. I mostly ordered it for the easel, which I am very impressed with. This set is worth much more when you price out everything individually, and I highly recommend it for students and hobbyists!

Recently, after enjoying an afternoon at a local art museum my husband and I suggested to each other it would be fun to try to paint a picture ourselves! With a wedding anniversary and a trip to New England just a couple of weeks away I decided this would a great gift to "us".

Two sets were ordered and sent Free Shipping through Amazon.com. They arrived via FedEx four days later.

Inside the packing box were two nice boxes containing our art sets. The tote bag is made well enough with plenty of room for additional materials and comes with a strap to carry it over your shoulder. The adjustable table easel is very nice, not cheap pine, but a heavier wood with a grain. I don't know much about brushes or paints, but for us beginners I think they will be adequate. A wood palette, a board canvas and a stretch canvas were included.

I am pleased with this purchase, and at $39.95 it was a much better price than other sellers of the same item on Amazon. We will order more for gifts.

If the manufacturer could improve upon or add to this set I would suggest an outline of oil painting basics; a color mixing chart, and a charcoal pencil. There could also be a suggestion to separately purchase a small container of linseed oil and turpentine for mixing and cleaning.

Nice set for a beginner. I am not a beginner but I wanted a cheap travel easel and that's exactly what I got. The easel is great, and I love the tote that came with it. Only problem is the tote was already torn when I got it out of the box. Not to hard to sew back up though. Came with so much for the price. Like I said, a wonderful gift for a beginning artist. The palette is flimsy. But the brushes and paint isn't bad. Also, came with two small, but nice, canvas's. It lost a star for being cheap and torn when I got it. But you get what you pay for. I love it though!

I love my little easel - it's so convenient to use and store in its convenient canvas bag. My little inspiration in big ways!!!


Keeping the World in Colour

This was a Christmas gift for an aspiring artist who has quite a lot of talent. The receiver was excited and thrilled with the gift. The service and value were top-notch.

A good price to try out oils as I can use the easel and carrying bag after I'm finished with the oils. The easel is nice and will be useful for small canvas work. The oil paint is okay, but they are very small tubes. The paint brushes are not very good, but for the price it isn't a big deal to buy a couple better brushes after you figure out which size you prefer. The painting pallet is okay, but use a piece of wax paper on it so you don't have to deal with washing the paint out of it later (mine is quite stained now). I suggest buying some type of oil cleaner for your brushes as water doesn't work well. I placed my used brushes in some dawn dish soap and then rinsed and wiped the paint out until they were clean. The canvases are good, one is a flat one that I used to practice on and the other looks like a typical canvas and I'll use it for something special. Oil painting isn't really my thing but I was happy with this kit as I could try it out without having to purchase a lot of expensive things (and I wasn't sure what I needed either). I may try acrylics next, I like that I have many of the supplies already. If you are just wanting to see if you like oils, this is a great start.

The easel is the only good item in the whole lot. I'm not a painter but it doesnt take more than common sense to see that the brushes, paint, paint board and canvas are junk

The setup is pretty good for the people just starting out. The easel is really nice.
