I became totally disgusted with the increased amount of junk mail. Even though I exhausted all other means to put a stop to it, the junk mail increased rather than decreased. Then, to make matters worse, mail was sent with my full name and address on the outside of huge envelopes and mail catalogs as well as throughout the catalog pages! Too much info at hand for any wrong person to have in todays society with identification theft on the rise. Therefore, under these circumstances, my old Aurora strip-cut shredder did Not and could Not do the job because the shredded pieces could be puzzled back together. I now needed a shredder that would shred material into itsy-bitsy tiny pieces and was utterly amazed when I saw this Royal Micro-cut shredder demonstrated! As a result, I came to Amazon and took the leap and grabbed it for the price knowing the features included the power to shred credit cards, staples, paper clips and more! As a result, I am very pleased! It looks like a dog has chewed the papers once the shredder does it's work. With this Royal Micro-cut, you can rest assured that your financial papers, cancelled checks, personal old documents,etc., can NOT be pieced together. This shredder does the job!
Now, the on otherside of the coin....this may not be for you if: you want it for a home business or have an extreme amount of paperwork because although it's capable of shredding 5 sheets at once, I do not. I'm retired and have the time to thin my pieces out to make sure that I'm taking care of a shredder that works great but after all, is inexpensive. I would not advise you to be heavy handed by treating this shredder like you'd treat a commercial shredder. Although I no longer use my Aurora, it still works fine after 4/5 yrs use and it too was inexpensive.
Realistically considering the size of this shredder, the cost and your intended usage, this buy could be a big steal for you as it was for me.
