I have had my shredder over a month and I am very pleased. I use to have an 11 page rated shredder that could only shred 8 pages and still sometimes jam. I would shred until the shredder jammed and then empty the bin. One feature I like that someone else might not like is when the shredder gets full it has like an overflow and shredded page droppings comes out the front. It doesn't make a big mess but it reminds you to empty the bin before it jams. With my old shredder I use to shred paper until the unit jams and this feature will remind you as to when to empty the basket. I have shred credit cards and CD-Rs without jamming and the micro cut makes everything unreadable. I don't recommend this but I have shredded more than 5 pages at a time, more than the recommended pages to shred at one time, and it shredded eight papers at one time and didn't jam. So far I'm completely satisfied with my MC50MX Shredder.

I've been saving up things to shred for months. I had some particularly sensitive investment papers I was almost ready to burn, but some of the materials were on photographic paper and do not burn well. In one day, taking my time, I got rid of everything using this shredder. The best part is that the output is totally unreadable, it looks more like cat litter than paper. Credit Cards come out the same, CD's come out in big chunks, unreadable by a computer but the label could be put back together again. I put the pieces back through the paper slot and they are disintegrated. I used to worry about my strip shredder and I would mix the strips up, put them in separate garbage bags, spray them with a bleach solution, etc. It's a fact that strips can be easily reassembled by hand or by using a computer.
It 'timed out' on me one time, but I was putting wads of sheets in at a time and running it continuously. After a few minutes it was OK, from then on I would feed 2 or 3 sheets at a time and it worked for extended periods of time. I was waiting for a decent price on a shredder like this, one that the first 50 reviewers didn't return the first day they owned it after it burned up. This is it.

had this shredder for over a month now,
Positive -- great micro cut -- quiet opeation -- reasonably priced -- bin opens in the front, very convinient to empty Will not comment on the shredding capacity as I have learned from the previous shredders to never put more than a few in at the time. Overall, very happy with the product, hoping it will last for a while
